Another black eye for NHRA. Todays race - 05/19/14 02:17 AM

Day long rain postponed today's Southern Nationals at Atlanta Raceway till 7pm tonight. Once started the Top Fuel cars were all over the track. After several pairs and more track prep between each they finally called the race till tomorrow morning. Total joke trying to run that race on that track today. I love NHRA drag racing but this was a total

I don't know but I'll bet they won't show Vandergriff walking down the center of the track after his race to give the NHRA president a piece of his mind after his near wreck.

I agree... plus they were prepping between cars so
if it started to hook the early guys got screwed...

I read Vandergriff's interview on Comp Plus. He was stupid for even staging/launching the car. In his own words he could not even see the tree or downtrack, but staged anyway and left off the other car. Smarter way would have been to refuse to stage and shut off.

NHRA had no way to win this one. If they called it people would be pizzed, if they didn't people would be pizzed.

Glad it is not my decision to make.

From what I could gather from the TV, Vandergriff was the 2nd or 3rd Fuel guy to rip into Light, but seemed to do the most thorough job of it. No doubt he was full of adrenalin from his cowboy run downtrack.
Grandstands were pretty empty; they should start Elims over, but then the guys who won their pedal-fests would be PO'd as well.

They never should have raced Sunday,they know that track has issues with the surface.Sometimes you just have to stop and let the track dry and be prepped.Sad day in NHRA history.

if they are really worried about the track surface...they should not be racing today either on that surface.....watching it live on espn3...

Ya ,I figured something would happen to Hight's car. But it was a clean race.

That really surprised me!
And the entire time I kept waiting for it, and it didn't happen.
…. and I'm very very happy to see it not happen as well.

I think it surprised Courtney too.
If Courtney wants it - her team will have to earn it the hard way.

Don't forget about the Fans who with out there would be no NHRA Drag Racing having to set there till after 8:00 pm when the Daymn race should have been called @ 12:00 at the latest.
Great job NHRA,do you not know why you are losing Race fans instead of gaining them?*? Not to mention putting the drivers in danger trying to run a round or two to send the Fans home with out getting to see a race.There was not just a lot of Angry drivers there but Fans as well.

NHRA better figure it out here pretty soon. If Force and DSR pull the plug they are done as an organization. Guys like Bob V fill the field and if you loose those guys there won't be a full field. No full field a lot less fans.

I gave up years ago hoping that the Pros would force Compton and his clowns out that run NHRA.


NHRA only looks to the Pros as a revenue source while treating them like this.
