For a mild street/strip car what is the best and most economical choice for a 10.5/130 flywheel? This is new territory to me and these prices I've seen are scary

I bought mine from American Powertrain when they had a 25% off sale. Summit sells them at pretty much the same price Brewer's sells McLeod's for.

Flywheels are fairly inexpensive unless you're looking for something custom. PRW has nice flywheels that don't cost a ton. I use PRW flywheels on all of the dyno engines.

Do you have a picture of the flywheel? maybe the problem was the clutch? A flywheel isn't a sophisticated device..I doubt that a billet flywheel will wear that quickly..
The 440source flywheels look like exact copies of the McLeod wheels..

Andy has said this before, he usually knows what he's talking about. I bet they haven't updated their website in years. I also bet that they make the flywheels for 440Source.
The absolute cheapest 10.5" 130 tooth flywheel is sitting on a 318 at the junkyard.

That's interesting. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe they changed the flywheel because when they first came out they were only $99, then $149 and now $199. 440source clearly state on their website that the flywheels are billet CNC ground steel wheels.. I don't think that they would blatantly lie about their product. Too much risk to get sued..

I have a $100 flywheel off of ebay, on the convertible, never had an issue since I installed it back in 2008. 511ci motor, mini starter, Centerforce Dual Friction clutch.

Well I bought one from 440 source so I guess we will see. Now I'm on the hunt for a good clutch that doesn't kill the wallet. I think I've settled on a hays 10.5 street strip unit but I haven't pulled the trigger yet

I'm about to use an ebay flywheel myself, looks just like the one 440 source sells, two pressure plate patterns and a bolt on weight for external balance.
Has part number FW-1900 on the engine side.
I bought it to use on a '73 400 so I'm hoping the balance is right

Think about it, any steel flywheel is billet. What else would it be? All billet means is that it was machined from a larger piece of material. Even if it was machined from a 1" thick plate it would still be billet.
I guess could be cast, but why? It'd still have to be machined, would probably cost about the same.....
A couple of years ago when AndyF first started talking about PRW billet wheels he too mentioned a price of $100. They don't cost that anymore. I have a feeling the "introductory price" was to get the market opened up, now the y are making some money on the wheels. BTW, that's the American way, not a bad thing.

The PRW flywheel box that I have on the shelf is #1642600. It is the 8 bolt version. I also have a 6 bolt version but I think I tossed the box out since I don't see it in the clutch/flywheel section of my shop.
