Comp 829 safe open pressure limit?

Comp 829 safe open pressure limit? - 02/06/14 08:03 AM

Can a Comp 829 roller lifter safely handle 800 lbs open pressure ? This is the first time I have used a roller cam and I want it to be right. I will more than likely go with PAC 1326 springs and 3/8 Smith Brothers pushrods. My question is can the lifters handle it.

I'm using the Comp Roller lifters, but only 700# open pressure with PAC1325 valve springs 0.714" lift cam, 1.950" install height (about 275# seat pressure.) I may have around 500 miles street/strip on them, and I usually shift around 6,500 RPM. I originally used 0.083" 3/8" pushrods, but upgraded to 0.120" wall.

This is race only, 470 low deck. I don't have all the info on cam handy but I believe it's .705 lift.

90 runs on my B1 so far..

Hopefully they last, but I have spares.

I have used them @ 1000# open and 8500 RPM had them rebuilt by comp every year to be safe.

I use them w/comp 996 springs. 275/775psi at .800". 90 passes so far lash has stayed consistent. I run a tight lash roller, fairly aggressive with T&D rockers and trend 7/16" x .160" pushrods.

Id use Isky EZ Rolls....bushed lifter bores as well..but thats me...

I havent used an 829 in a while, I hope they redesigned how the pushrod seat is retained in the lifter body...The ones I had here used only an o ring to retain the seat...Some actually came out of the lifter just from the oil tension when pulling a pushrod out...on a fully assembled engine...
