Another tire post got me wondering about the brands of tires racers are using these days. I see less and less Goodyear and more M/T and Hoosier in my travels. What is your current brand of choice? Feel free to chime in with your reasons!

M/T slicks 29.5 10.5 15 and M/T 295 65 15 drag radials

I've had better luck with my Hoosiers than I did with the Goodyears or the M&Hs. Mine won't work at all at the track on a Drag Radial - so I run those on the street. The MT ET Street Radials work about 5X better than the "regular" street tires do� just not at the track on my heap. It's just too heavy.

Currently on a MT radial, will probably switch to a 26" Hoosier radial for a 26" race. When it saw more "street time"

it was always an MT slick

I usually run M/T but Phoenix had the closest size that the Hoosiers the car had when I bought it.

I don't see your list differentiate between DOT and drag-only M/T radials...

M/T for the last four years, never looked back. Far superior to the Goodyears I ran before.

For the street classes I run the M/T ET Drag Radials. The M/T ET Street is also pretty good. I think the Radial is a bit softer compound than the ET Street?

I use Hoosier QTP for my street/strip car. Thinking about trying their radial version of the tire this year.

Hoosier 9" lightweight radial slicks. But my class is limited to 9". They are faster than a bias ply, but more sensitive to track conditions. Luckily I am able to race at well prepped tracks on the IHRA circuit as well as occasionally at local bracket tracks.

I run the 28.5 9 15 Phoenix slicks and have been 1,37 60 foot and ran the best of 10.26 @ 128 in my 3000# duster with the smallblock 360 and edelbrock heads.Its a leafspring /cal trac rear.

so are you going to run points at green cove?

I thought about it, but my IHRA and SSSSA schedules would likely keep me from attending enough to be a factor. But unless they make some major changes to improve their track prep, there is no reason to go, even for test & tune! I hate to say it like that, but from my last visit, tire compound, design or width would have made no difference. I was there mainly to see how my trans shifted. At least I accomplished that.
