aluminum dash pics - 12/31/13 05:36 AM

I been thinking of doing a aluminum dash or fiberglass(kind of costly at 350.00) would love to see pictures of some. 2nd question is the weight savings worth it, is it 5-10 pounds or like 20-25 thanks guys

What have you done to strip the weight out of your
stock dash... have you taken all of the metal off
from behind it... I think you could vacuform the dash
easy enough with plastic with just a little practice

i haven't stripped the stock dash at all just the way it came. i can get a aluminum dash for just over 100.00 bucks just thought it would be a good way to shed weight

Here's what I did. Simple and light weight.

I made up a alum dash for my car and left it the alum
color... I want to get a fiberglass dash for mine
but I'm sure its a few more pounds than my dash but
the glass one looks way better... if I would have kept
my original dash I would have made a plastic one...
but I didnt think and trashed all that stuff(I was
running out of room in my little shop/garage)

I thought the aluminum might give too much of a glare inside the car. That's the only reason I painted it. Believe me, I didn't want to cover up my beautiful tig weld on the edge
