Locking transmission dipsticks - 10/28/13 02:16 PM
Below is a list of NHRA approved locking dipsticks.
Does anyone know any of the companies below that have a product that works well in a 69 Barracuda with a small block, 904 and a CSR carbon fiber transmission shield?
I have one of the Lokar locking dipsticks and I don't see how I can get it to work.

You can't get it to work. They don't fit with a stock floor. I had the same problem.

Mancini Racing lists dipsticks specifically for use with the CSI shield. Might be worth a look.

I have this one, works fine as long as I keep my stock dipstick for actually checking the trans.

I have the correct one in my car, the locking one (salvage yard locking GM w/ the stick part cut to about 10") in the trailer, in case it's needed in tech.

Locking GM dipstick, junkyard $5.00. Drill out the rivets that hold the handle on the stick. Lay the original stick next to the GM stick. Measure where the GM stick bottoms on the tube and transfer that measurement to the Mopar stick. Transfer the hole locations as well. Take a caliper and scribe the Mopar stick on each side 1/2 the width difference of the GM stick, as I remember it was .050". Grind the Mopar stick along the scribed lines. Install the GM locking handle assy. on the Mopar stick with two small machine screws and a drop of Locktite. Now you have the stock Mopar level with the GM lock. This whole procedure took longer to type than it did to accomplish.
