SCAT still does most of their cranks with the big, heavy Mopar rods. Most everyone else has switched to the smaller and lighter BB Chevy journal.

The smaller chevy journal also helps with the stroke clearance in the block which can be a real pain with the 4.250

Can you run the mopar rods(aftermarket)with an internal pickup and 4.25 stroke?

George...yes you can but typically you need to either relieve the Pump pick up and quite a bit of the pick-up boss...roughly .050 more than with a 4.15 crank. It often makes sense to offset drill the factory pump boss to allow more room or just use a 3/8 pick up to start.
the 4.25/2.200 fits in there with LESS work that a 4.15/2.375....that plus the more cubes and lighter bob is a big reason why it has become so popular.
As for the crank itself, you could do like I did and find a good used 4.15" 2.375 Crank with a wasted rod journal and offset grind it to 4.25 or up to 4.315.

Thanks Bobby.I'm trying to put something together with the rods and pistons I have.It may be more trouble than it's worth.

I've always heard a factory 400 slug will work with a 440 6.76 rod and a 4.15 crank in a .022 overbored 440 block......bobweight will be heavy but no heavier than a stock 440!
Ohio and I think maybe Eagle makes a mopar journal 4.25 and doesn't MuscleMotors use one too?
the 2.200 with chevy ~2.05" length journals has become the much more popular way to go but hte Mopar sized stuff is likely still around.

Ohio doesent have a mopar journal 4.25.I bought the pistons on overstock sale and can't return them.

Well worst case you can weld one up.....the one I had was done by Paul Savadin (RIP) who did Big Daddy's cranks....he said properly done the 440 block would break before you'd ever hurt one of his cranks.

Contact SCAT, I'm sure they still offer Mopar cranks with the big Mopar rod journal on them. From the little bit of research I did a while back most everyone else had switched to the 2.200 journal. Eagle, Ohio, 440Source, Callies, etc. had all gone to the 2.200 journal on the longer stroke cranks.
Your other option is to call around to some Mopar engine builders. Muscle Motors, Indy, Best Machine, etc. Maybe someone has something sitting on the shelf. I know that Mancini Racing was selling some old Eagle cranks at discount recently so you might check with them also.

Eric at Muscle Motors says he can get a K1 crank.I will try that route.

Ahh, I forgot about K1. Yep, they do still offer a 2.375 rod journal crank in several different strokes.

i'm pretty sure i have a 4.25 with mopar rod journals in stock if your interested.
