The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart

The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/21/13 05:15 PM

Jimmy's old Dart survived another fire. The body man (former co-worker) who was "suppose" to paint the car for me had an electrical fire in his garage. He may have not touch the car at since I dropped it off, but he did save the car from disaster. I am now waiting to bring it to a real body shop.

DAMN that car seems to attract fire... I'm sure you'll
get it back together for another attempt ... hopefully
you have burnt out the fire curse (no pun intended)..
I think the devil is following that car and wants to see
it WARM all the time... best of luck with it

Sell that thing to somebody in Alaska for ice racing before it turns into charcoal!

Maybe put in a BIG rubber band or some squirels in a cage.

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/21/13 06:21 PM

That is just too coincidental. The word possessed comes to mind.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. I feel your pain after having a fire myself this year. Sucks for sure but I guess the brite side is it was not together or painted yet. And yeah the word possessed seems to come to mind

No joke, I`d sell that thing and never look back............Had a 69 Sport Satellite that right after I painted it got smashed by a drunk driver, hit a big dog then sold it to a friend. His wife crashed that car several times and needless to say he sold it.

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/21/13 07:27 PM

On the serious side....any time you run at that level bad things are eventually going to happen.
If you play with fire.....

It needs exercised alright. Get an engine in that thing and run the dog poop out of it. That is one bad car.
There's still a nice picture of it on Summites Motorsports Park ad for Octobers Shakedown Race. Our spot is rented for that race and we will be there spectating.

Just bizarre circumstances, that's all. Good to see the damage is minimal. Good luck on getting it fixed.

never seen a car than can survive so many fires, just crazy.
Posted By: RonTheAnnouncer

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/22/13 02:08 AM

That's crazy...you need to have the car lettered up after it's built. Borrow a line from Blue Oyster Cult... "Burnin' for you".

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/22/13 03:06 AM

It has to get a true fire paint job, that way it already looks like its on fire and the fire might just leave it alone?

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/22/13 04:37 AM

Hurry up and get it done, then get some good collector car insurance on it. thats a guaranteed payoff for you!!!!!!

but seriously I don't know that i could ever drive that car...

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/23/13 12:35 AM

I will never sell the car, I waited years to get my hands on it

I had another bodyshop that had painted my first race car come down and give me an estimate. I will be dropping the car off to him on the 30th. I am just thankful that my car was not ruined. I lost a lot of valuable time and money dealing with Brian, but I will keep moving forward.

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/23/13 01:24 AM

Geeez!!! that car has the worst luck.

If you are interested my niece's husband just opened a body shop in Norwich. His name is Keith Kudej, it's Kudej's body shop.

Good Luck with whoever you choose, I can recommend a body shop in Syracuse, Indiana to stay away from LOL!!!

FLAME ON!! I'm thinking I would either give that car a good flame job, or paint it up to look like a fire extinguisher...ethier way...

I don't know if you are a religious person or not but if I were you, I would tow the Car to my local place of worship and have the Minister or Priest come out and give it a blessing. .Believe it or not I had a friend who had this done to a possessed Dirt Track Car and he had no worse than average luck with it after that!!

Re: The Curse of the Jimmy's Dart - 09/23/13 05:24 PM

I don't think the car is cursed, it's just a car.

The learning curve with a PSI blown hemi is very sharp. It usually makes a lot of sense to get a experienced tuner to help you get started with one of those combos, your money way a head to get tuning assistance.

I bet Jimmy would agree with me now.

Plus a car is much harder to deal with than dragster. When a fire happens with a dragster there's less to catch on fire because the engine is toward the rear.

Good luck with your new car, I saw one of your post where you built a new 4X4 frame, you can handle the work yourself.

Why don't you tackle the body work and determine your own outcome?

I agree and we were creeping up on it. At the level we were playing it was very expensive and things break.

As much as I miss the car I am happy to say that all the time that I am spending with my kids has been very rewarding and wouldn't change in return for the car. The car is in good hands and I hope he really enjoys it as much as I did.
