New heads and new best ***Updated***X2 - 09/10/13 06:48 AM

After more than 2 years I finally got my new heads, intake, pistons and cam in my block and got it back in the car and to the track.
It's 415 ci now with W9's and a 420 intake

It really surprised me with what it ran with the heat we had Saturday in the same weather the old engine would have ran 5.38-5.40 in the 1/8th.
The first pass on this new stuff was a 5.23 then it settled on a 5.21 at 131.77

Nice!!

Re: New heads and new best - 09/10/13 07:48 AM

It used to weigh 2420 but it's a little heavier with these headers and a different center section and a few little things added. it now weighs 2490.
It has a Glide and 5.13 rear gears.

Thanks

And J Body...I hope these stay on here for a very long time

The engine is a 4.200 bore w/3.75 stroke and a 6" rod
Heads and intake are ported by Larry Meaux
LSM cam, Diamond pistons

The rear suspension is home made 4 link w/ Santhuff coil overs and the front has a stock K-member I modified for a Pinto rack and Santhuff coil overs.

I sanded and re-painted everything while the engine was out but didn't take any new pics.

Re: New heads and new best - 09/10/13 07:05 PM

If that's a NA combo why don't you put a small hit of NOS on it and some small tires and go play with the boys.

Re: New heads and new best ***Updated*** - 09/15/13 03:07 PM

I went back to the track yesterday to give it another try.
I lowered my timing 2* and upped the jets 1 size to see what would happen, It ran the same ET but the MPH picked up to 132.90.
Each round I was trying to learn more about my Racepak and how to use it when I heard on the PA that I had a bye to the finals
I got lucky and won

Car is light compared to most on here. But, that said no harder than you turn it she's carrying the mail.

Was ready to bet some real $$ it was not a 59 degree.

Good job on the win

Re: New heads and new best ***Updated***X2 - 09/29/13 07:05 AM

Tonight we had a little cooler weather(mid 70's) so I added a little bigger jets and netted another new best ET on one pass then a new MPH on another.

It went a 5.1737 and 133.18, I'm very pleased with it's performance so far
