Re: Southern Mopar Racers... - 09/17/13 09:43 PM

Open Comp = bracket racing, which you could run in with yours. Being our first all Mopar go-around, we will tweak whatever is necessary for future events as far as classes go. Hope you can make it!!

I called and they said they would run a bracket race both days. Also said the web site would be updated Our cars don't run the index numbers either. I would say give jr. a call he seems to be a nice guy.

Acording to my Rand McNally Atlas, 2004 edition, the track is about 2.25 inches west of Knoxville near I40. Sounds like a good race in the makin.

What are the swap meet prices, for a space

Are the swap meet spots on the interstate side

Thanks for the info Mark, now another ?????, $25 bucks seems like a
fair price for a swap meet spot, does this include track entry, or does one have to pay to get in plus the swap meet space????????

Dave, the $25 is in addition to the spectator entrance fee, which is $15 per day Saturday and Sunday, or $20 for a Saturday/ Sunday pass.

Great question! We have regular heads up small tire races every month where the cars are steadily going 4.80's/ 90's on 10.5" tires. We also have a Pro Mod class monthly that runs in the 4.40 range, and have had several Top Alcohol dragsters running in the high 3's.

I would love to see you make it! There are hotels VERY close by, as well as restaurants (Shoney's, Arby's, McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Wnedy's, Subway, Long John Silver, etc are all on the strip at Exit 317). Gas stations all over, and this morning when I got gas it was $3.14/ gal for regular. The track is not far from Exit 317 in I40, and there's hotels on that exit as well as a few miles further east at Exit 322.

Re: Southern Mopar Racers...Oct 4th-6th!! - 09/29/13 08:04 PM

Mark, will the bracket races be split up between box and no box or run together? Also, will it be true footbrake or no box? Is Open Comp a seperate class from the brackets? If so, are they a box class?
Thanks,
Brian

Hey Brian. No box cars will run no box and box will run box until there's no other option than to start running them against each other. It will be no box, not true footbrake. As this is the first event, if we have enough support, then next year we can separate the cars further. Also, again since it is our first such event, we are open to suggestions. If you're bringing a bunch of buddies with you, let us know what you would like to see and we can possibly make some adjustments if there are enough cars to justify it. Also, Open Comp = Brackets... just called it by a different name. They are one and the same.

We want this to become an annual event, so obviously the more popular it is, the more room we have to adjust here and there until we get it solid and make the "majority" happy (lol, we know we can't make EVERYONE happy).
