Hoosier Quick Time Pro Dot versus non Pro

Hoosier Quick Time Pro Dot versus non Pro - 07/27/13 10:00 AM

Need new tires for rear. Old M/T tires are no longer good for sitting as long as it has. Looking at the Hoosier tires but do they wear out quick being the Pro version? Car is not driven that much because of weather and snow during winter time. Had 18.5 wide tires originally on the car and want to get same width again if possibly. Had 29 X 18.5 on it but Hoosier does not go that wide in the height. Thinking about taller tire because of blower on car. Might be fitting issue though because of rear end being pulled forward like it is? Might be close or no go. Do the tires say "NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE" on them or anything? I doubt they would being DOT, but don't want aggravation if pulled over in it.

Thanks for help on this

The Pros are marked "DOT", and "FOR COMPETITION USE ONLY...NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE", but I use them on the street (which is not a highway ). The Pros I bought in 2005 are still soft and have no cracks in them...probably because they have spent too little time on the road since the car has been apart and on jackstands for the last few years. Had the standard version before, and the Pros are softer.

I had a set of QTPs on the Cuda a few years ago. They probably hooked easier than any other DOTs I have run.

But, they are soft and wear real quick. And the thin sidewall let the car wander around at the stripe.

Original tires I had were the M/T Sportsman Pro 29 X 18.5. I was running 8 psi in them on the street. Hooked good for me at least on the street before the blower. I do know about squirrely top end feeling. Not a cornering car and drive it easy rest of time. Except when I feel like having fun or getting on the freeway in a hurry.

The QTP's are the best street tire that I have ever used!!!!! I have the Hoosier Drag Radials on now, just haven't tried them on the street yet. ;-)
