On a race only engine, a power valve isn't necessary if the carb is set up properly. I've seen guys use them, but more as a crutch when they have another problem.

If you do decide to block it off, you'll need to increase the primary jets. A good starting point is go Square.

Give Quickfuel a call. They can get you pointed the right direction and save you some trouble/time and money.

I use one ( on the primary side only ) in a race only application. IMO, it keeps the plugs cleaner idling around the pits, on the return road, and in the staging lanes.

If you're not pulling a vacuum at WOT there's no reason to block the PV.

Me to, I use the power valve restriction channel size for getting the tune correct at wide open throttle, I jet the primary jet down one or two sizes to keep the part throttle driving lean on the primarys and use the PVRC to make up for the differences in sizes at WOT

Keep it, It will make your engine happier and crisper keeping the plugs cleaner.

I don't like power valves on a Race engine.A race engine with high CR & big cams & lots of timing is going to spit back through the carb at times cranking and thats the end of the PV!An its seems like some times they have a mind of their own and can open & close as they please.
Power Valves=Trouble!!!!!

I dont run a PV but the carbs now days have a back fire
valve to prevent the back fire to blow out the PV

They may have a valve now to keep the back fire from blowing out the valve, but I bet they still have a mind of their own and can open an close at will. All joking aside I have never been able to get them to work right and work right all the time on any engine, but some times on a street engine you just have to settle for as best/close as you can get things.
PS thats why I am becoming a bigger & bigger fan of FI!

PV's fail all the time. just another thing to worry about on a race car. they are not needed.

Same here.. I was on the FI from the start at Chrysler
but that system isnt designed for change.. if I could
buy a nice aftermarket system at a REASONABLE price
I would but not at close to $3000 .. I can buy ALOT
of fuel for that

No PVs here, race only, I can live without one @ low rpm, I don't cruise @ all, its WOT or idle except for a quick blip going up the ramps while loading, PVs are just one more thing to mess up, its easy to just square jet.

There is more to drag racing than full throttle. Use a power valve, learn how a carb works and you will be more consistent and be able to foot brake or trans break cleanly. I even use one in my Dart blow thru.
