64 Dodge Lightweight Style Grill

64 Dodge Lightweight Style Grill - 04/25/13 07:22 PM

Just thought I'd share. I sent my buddy Zack a couple grill cores and made he me a lightweight style grill, deleting the high beams. Took just under 7 pounds off the front of the car. The grills I sent him were in rough shape, he went the extra mile. He's made 3 or 4 of these now. The first one is on his car which is finally on the road with a with a Gen III Hemi. The pics would look better if car wasn't still sittin in the trailer. Need to get it out in the sun or better yet in the water box

Segment cuts are in the wrong place if it's supposed to be correct. Otherwise, looks good...

Actually, either way is correct. It really depends on who was working on that particular day the grill(s) were being done.

mine is homemade.may not be correct but i think it came out nice.its a race car not a restoration.

Looks good; I guess they didn't get the finishing bezel.
IIRC, wasn't the 2-headlight treatment only on the '64 Hemi cars? I think the '64 Wedge SS cars had 4 headlights. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've seen them both ways on factory race cars, restored and o.e.m. But this thread is not about who or what is right, just a guy showing his "new to him" ss grille, so lets quit crapping on his thread.

You are correct. This is a original Max Wege, aluminum front end car (the first 4 speed car off the assembly line). It had 4 headlights from day one, but the weight bug got to it also.

I love single headlight grills, I have extras, just afraid to cut them up,lol
