Gus,
Seems to me the only thing they ruled out was lencos, I don't see a problem with them either
vipers, neons, savoys all have 5 speeds or more

We'll be doing some 'Nostalgia' racing

Dear Herr Dennis's Boss
Please excuse Dennis from work from August 9 to August 11, 2013. We've determined that it is necessary to conduct a complete psychiatric study on Dennis during that time.

I hope this causes no major inconvenience, but I am certain it will improve his productivity at work.

Everyone always tells me how expensive it it is to race a stick car(they don't have to tell me)
I always tell them the big expense racing with a glide is having to buy a purse to match the skirt and heels

Assuming I can successfully pass the 6bblFLASH driving school this summer, I'll be making my maiden voyage into the stick class this year. 25 years of racing an automatic is going to take some time to un-learn. Take it easy on me....

All you stick shift guys from OH, PA and MI should check out the UMTR race schedule. 50-70 stick cars at each race. Good practice for the Mopar Nats stick race.

I just checked the Mopar Nats web site. Still no indication that there will be a Stick Shift race on the entry form??????????
Posted By: 68shifter

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 05/25/13 01:48 PM

They are updating the flier any day now. It is $100 entry fee so if you use the present form just write in stick class and they'll know about it.

Money is sent. In one area on the site they list a stick class then not on the entry form. I think they just rolled over last years stuff and forgot to update.

Thanks
Andre

Since Charlie Blakenship is in charge of the racing at the Mop Nats now, do you need to get him on board with your stick shift race

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 05/26/13 02:55 PM

The Nats crew has expressed that it is all set. They have not conveyed the need to contact him, Im expecting since not a points class for their event Im not sure if theres much they are handling with it.

Offer still stands for Norwalk.

Thanks

Well now I know what I need at Norwalk this year, more fuel and less beer I have made the decision to leave the faceplate Richmond in the car for one more season for these two races.
Thanks again for sponsoring the class

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 05/27/13 04:20 PM

Rick is great! We dont have everything finalized yet but he's helping to make the race a little more lucrative farther back.

Personally I think he just wants those wires on all the cars!

Have a great Memorial Day.

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 05/28/13 02:00 AM

Hi guys, were are trying to finalize something, but as Andre said, just trying to get some more cash to the racers. Plus bonus time to semi's if both guys in the finals have Firecores. Firecore50 Stickshift Shootout

Why would you want any other brand of wire on your racecar
I really hope to make both races

Hey are we going to be able to run a two step at the Nats?

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 05/30/13 03:29 AM

Larry,
The online entry form is now updated and has "Stick" as a class to circle for entry.

Gus,
Per:
Rule 12034053.A-1: Any pre 66 vehicle may not use a 2 step, driver also must wear a tuxedo t-shirt.

Naah, just messing with yah. Two steps are fine, just no CO2 clutch pedals or that type of stuff.

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 07/16/13 09:50 PM

Man, I hope it's a go. I've sent my money in and have my camping reservations all set. My experiences with the "Nat's" personnel have NEVER been a good one. Total apathy, it seems, for anything associated with a manual transmission and racing.
Posted By: 68shifter

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 07/16/13 10:25 PM

The race is a go. What Rick is referring to is we were trying to get him on as the title sponsor for the event. Initially I used Irwin Race Engines, a buddy of mine, as the logo just to get him some publicity. When Rick wanted to come onboard the Nats was contacted in an event to try and change stuff over. Long story short is no return emails, and I buy the Mopar Mag and it has the IRE as title.

Just disappointed as I told Rick I could get this accomplished and it didnt happen. Rick will have the Stickshift challenge shirts for the participants and the trophy.

Congrats to 6bblFLASH on the win. 10.094 on a 10.09 dial to take home the cash.

Stupid me went .018 red in semi's or we'd have a brother vs brother final. Oh well, I had a blast and he'd have been bummed when little brother took his money with a car I've owned for 4 months and only raced twice......

Thanks Andre for sponsoring it! See you next year

Larry's-I thought your video initially looked ok, but you both turned the camera on right at the end of the run and down the return road. Sucks, that would be some cool video. Hopefully another event and we'll get it.

That trophy is sitting here beside me at my computer
This is by far the COOLEST trophy I have!!!
Would have ran just as hard to win just the trophy It is my "Wally".

Winning is always fun,but this one really suprised me. This weekend was the only time I ran the car in competion this year and struggled to make a good run. Driving an 18-speed all night then a 4spd Jerico in the daylight really has me off my game.
But better LUCKY than good
MANY Thanks to Andre and Rick,as well as the track staff and workers that helped us sort out some things.
I also won the 100-dollar bonus for best reaction time in eliminations.
AND my wife thru me a birthday party at the track Saturday before eliminations.
Racing my brother in the finals would have been ICING on the cake.
Did`nt work-out but Mark made a HUGE leap forward in his driving ,,,,,,,,,,,so watch-out.

I hope to find a way to run Norwalk next month

Dag nabbit! Sorry Andre, I thought I had the button sequence correct, on the camera. I guess I goofed up. One of these days we'll get it right.

Thanks for posting the pictures. My son and I were looking at them. Then my son told story after story to his mom, while pointing out who was who, and funny stories about who beat who,.....

I'm happy to report that my car completed it's duty. Got to the track loaded up with gear, changed all 4 tires to the race setup, raced, never missed a gear and no real problems, cruised, re-packed up and drove home no issues. Once again, 15 mpg on the highway doing 65mph. At least it wasn't pouring down rain on the way home!

Lot's of fun, for sure!

Thanks again Andre!

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 08/13/13 04:37 AM

Loboda's AMX was the quickest in the 9.70's with others in 14-15 area. There was no stick race last year, but we had 18 this year. I think pretty close to same as 2 years ago. Not bad for 1k to win when pro had 75 or something with 1500 to win.

There were 4 cars with aftermarket trans, but of the final four three had factory sticks. Pretty cool, fun class, and hopefully it grows for next year.

Also-best RT received a case of Brad Penn and Oldiron came up with a good idea of rewarding factory trans car. So Gary as r/u with the 833 also received $100, plus additional contingency from firecore.
Posted By: 6bblFLASH

Re: 2013 Mopar Nats Stickshift Challenge - 08/13/13 04:39 AM

9.70`s to mid 14`s.
They did`nt have it last year.
I think there was 20 cars?

Wow nice turnout considering there was no race last year. That's a good payout too plus the extra bonuses. I'm sure this class will grow as its sounds like a lot of fun with some great support. Hope it's here to stay for many many years. Thank you for keeping us all updated. Pete

Couple of odd things I`ve noticed every year:
None of the Vipers run in Stick, but they ALL are.
I`ve noticed a couple of Pro Bracket cars/trucks that were sticks too...
Not to mention the dozens of Trophy/Fun run manual trans stuff.
Maybe a Street and Pro-Stick format like the UMTR.
For the number of rounds it takes to win its pretty good odds
