How early of an A body are we talking about? I put a set on a 66 dart with a 360 we built for it. The TTi's were a nightmare to install and keep from touching anything. In the future i'd rather build my own than deal with their product.

I have a 65 cuda and wondered if going to an alter k might fix some of the intallation and clearance issues.

Any off the shelf header on an early A body (63-66) is going to be tough. Basically you have to understand your framerails are 2" closer together than later A bodies. I have never looked at a set of TTI headers on one of these but can only imagine how tight the fit will have to be.

I would recommend running a BOBSPROFAB tubular front k-member with rack and pinion and coilover shocks. This will move all the problems out of the way. Then you have a lot more room. But, the best headers are going to be a custom built header. This is not inexpensive and I don't want to BS you in to believing it is. But, after you do this you would really have a nice front end and headers that would truely turn your somewhat basketcase Barracuda into a really nice user freindly car. I feel I can say this because I know these cars well. My car was a total headache to work on until I made these upgrades up front. Now I would not trade it for any other A-body.

PM me if you have any detailed questions

What header wouldn't be a nightmare on a early A, other than fenderwell?

I like the AlterKtion because it eliminates the need for the stock upper shock mount.
Mine is a '65 with W-9 heads.
I started with a kit for late A body headers from Stahl and don't have pics of the finished product , but they turned out pretty O.K.
The primaries are a couple inches longer than optimum and one tube on each side still goes outside the rails ( 7 & 8 ), but I got a good stretch of tube before the first bend.
The steering shaft needs to come out for installing / removing them , but I am happy with the results.
Not cheap either , but a lot cheaper than having them made....with flanges from SPD and the kit , I had around 650.00 into them.
Got them coated locally and bartered on part of the price so I am into them for under 850 bucks......well under 1/2 price of having them built.

Soooooo..

The undercar TTI's won't fit a car with a Alterkation suspension but, they would a stock set up ?

I bet they would , and are probably a nice choice for stock ports or maybe even W-2's.
1 3/4 to 1 7/8 " step would be marginal for my deal and hacking apart a 800.00 set of headers to use the W-9 flange and still having un-equal primary length factored into my decision too.

I am considering this also. I really wish I would have done it when I built the car along with sub frame connectors and a mini tub... but had different goals then.

I am running Spitfires now but have a Shady Dell 408 coming in March. We are going to dyno it with the Spitfires and see how it does with them.

The Spitfires were reasonably priced but the custom exhaust work required to get them not to rub rattle and make the car fun to drive was not.

I have the TTI's on my 65 and the K frame fitment is good the T bars are the worse part, once the headers are in they fit good don't bang on anything and they flow great. When you install a big header in a small car its not always easy.

I don't expect it to be easy but its good to know that it is doable, thanks
