Early A body with Alterkation and TTI headers - 01/20/13 03:57 PM
Has anyone on here done this combo?I am talking about a small block auto with tti's step headers and the alter K.Problems?
Quote:I have a 65 cuda and wondered if going to an alter k might fix some of the intallation and clearance issues.
How early of an A body are we talking about? I put a set on a 66 dart with a 360 we built for it. The TTi's were a nightmare to install and keep from touching anything. In the future i'd rather build my own than deal with their product.
Quote:Thanks,pics would be good.
It can be done, i dont have one myself but i have picx, i'll try to find them for you. Btw i know at least one in Fabo.

Any off the shelf header on an early A body (63-66) is going to be tough. Basically you have to understand your framerails are 2" closer together than later A bodies. I have never looked at a set of TTI headers on one of these but can only imagine how tight the fit will have to be.
I would recommend running a BOBSPROFAB tubular front k-member with rack and pinion and coilover shocks. This will move all the problems out of the way. Then you have a lot more room. But, the best headers are going to be a custom built header. This is not inexpensive and I don't want to BS you in to believing it is. But, after you do this you would really have a nice front end and headers that would truely turn your somewhat basketcase Barracuda into a really nice user freindly car. I feel I can say this because I know these cars well. My car was a total headache to work on until I made these upgrades up front. Now I would not trade it for any other A-body.
PM me if you have any detailed questions

Soooooo..
The undercar TTI's won't fit a car with a Alterkation suspension but, they would a stock set up ?
Quote:I don't expect it to be easy but its good to know that it is doable, thanks
I have the TTI's on my 65 and the K frame fitment is good the T bars are the worse part, once the headers are in they fit good don't bang on anything and they flow great. When you install a big header in a small car its not always easy.
