What happened to it being in June when it always is? And why are we possibly moving to Quaker city? July and August are so hot most years that I usually don't bother racing.

Andy, PRP has been leased by the Tedescos to a management company. Bob George posted sometime during the Holidays that he was having a problem with scheduling the meet at PRP on the usual dates for some reason and is trying to keep the meet together one way or another. He may have to have it a Quaker city because of this.

Moving the race is due to there being 2 mopar races scheduled in June already.

AJ....August 10 is also the weekend of BSD's Flashback Friday (the 9th), as well as the 422 AllStars NSS race the next day. Not as big as the Nostalgia Nats, but still a big deal.

That would hurt car count.

I would be for either weekend in August at either track you can secure.

What other race is in June besides MM on the 28th? Maybe earlier in June

Like to 19-21 July weekend. Quaker is a slower track, but for those who haven't been there. In every other way it is a better facility. The pits are not gravel all over. The rest room and shower facilities are there. Too me its all about location as well. Quaker overall is a nicer place to race. Please take a look at there web page if you have never been there. Boardman is right around the corner for night time activities as well. Alot of times they have car cruises down town as well.
Thank you, Ken Michalik

Josh has moved Monster Mopar at Indy to June as well as many other Mopar races that have been schudled. As I mention in other post too many races in June will hurt the attendence at all these events.
If someone has a full race schudle for all this years Mopar events maybe post them so we can see what i'am referring to.
I have met with both PRP and Quaker and they both wish to have the event. If we can't decide on a viable date and track then there is not much point in trying to compete and not have a successfull event.
We are welcoming everyones imput.

Here is what I have listed on my calender but not sure of which ones I will go to. This is a listing of the ones that do interest me. As you will see I have no interest in the Mopower events so they are not listed!

6/22 Sled City Nostalgia
6/28 MM Indy
7/19 Blue Suede Crusie w/NSS race Norwalk
7/28 JJ Chrysler Classic
8/1 Doug Duell NSS
8/24 JJ Chrysler Classic or Norwalk NMCA
9/13 MM Norwalk

These are weekend dates and may show Friday but are 2 or 3 day races.

Personally, I think early June is the time to hold it. The MD race is over, and nothing big seems to go on until the Sled City deal. The weather hasn't gotten really hot yet. Besides, no one has blown their stuff up yet.

I could be wrong, but isn't Josh's race in St. Louis; Indy or somewhere a bit further west? With fuel being what it is, I don't see that as a real direct competitor.

Anyway, that's my

I haven't been to Quaker since the Pumpkin race that closed the 2011 season. Did they add showers and restrooms? I know they used to be there, but in 2011, with all the changes, the bathrooms and showers got taken out... there were only portajohns. Did it change last year, or for this coming season? In no way am I trying to pick on QC... I just wouldn't want anyone voting for it thinking they have shower facilties and can camp out, if there aren't any. I do agree the grass is great, and there are plenty of wide open staging lanes.

Re: Curt George Memorial ***Opinons Needed - 01/18/13 09:01 PM

If I can chime in here.

I've been talking with Norm Fox for a while now, QC is holding a Mopar race this year, he already has a Sponsor in Columbiana Chry. Jeep Dodge. When I saw that the Curt Race was up in the air I had Norm get in touch with Bob, which he did. Norm is very excited about holding this race and feels that taking on the Curt race would be a real asset for all involved. I have to say this about Norm... he cares and want this to be a success. They have dumped a ton of money into the track along with all new track prep equipment including a tractor to lay rubber down. It's night and day from when Dan owned the place.
Poppa J. in May QC will be holding their Nostalgia Classic Memorial Day Weekend. Yes there will be N/SS, I'm working with him now on this and will post details later.

Re: Curt George Memorial ***Opinons Needed - 01/18/13 09:47 PM

When is QC going to get rid of the uphill last hundred or two feet? Heck, you can SEE the finish line from the starting line.

I loose a few MPH at that track and can't compare numbers /tuneups with other tracks.

I'm not a real racer, but I like to play with my toys like the rest of you.

I vote for PRP everytime. Consistent track prep and a FLAT track from start to finish!

Re: Curt George Memorial ***Opinons Needed - 01/18/13 09:58 PM

Josh's Indy race is a "must attend event"for Mopar racers. If this race has enough support it can be bigger than the MoparNats as far as the racing and attention to the racers.I have only missed the Nats once in 25 years but in the last 5 years or so the racing seemed to only be a side show for the main event. The MM at Indy the racing is the event and everything else is the side shows.
As far as tracks,NationalTrails has it's share of issues and most everyone runs faster at Norwalk,PRP and others.

I second the June 7-9 date at Quaker City. This looks to be good fit, plenty of time between it and Monster Mopar at Indy. I do not think you will conflict with the Sled Citys event. How many on this board raced the Sled City?? NSS had less than 16 cars, No Box- maybe 30 cars, etc. Early June as Gary said is WIDE OPEN.
Racers need to schedule their vacation time asap, probably too late for some.

Re: Curt George Memorial ***Opinons Needed - 01/19/13 02:19 AM

I hope we can garner support for the late August date at either QC or PRP. It's a later summer race with less blinding heat and before the season goes to the finals race stuff. just one opinion. As I said, if it's a BGR event I will try and attend anytime. HJ

There were a few from this board there, and all you know that I race 100% Mopars and have been since 1967. But I want to be honest with you , there sure were a lot of Fords in the winners circle and I would like to see the Mopars in that spot. Support the event and come out and whip some Fords aces. Check out the picture from that event at www.sledcityevents.com. Thanks N/SS guy for the plug!

I agree with Gary, second week in june would be great.
I would like Pittsburg as it has been the Curt George location since it's start.
That being said, we would attend whenever wherever.
I know the Short horse racing team will be bringing 8 to 12 cars
Thanks,

WOW only 28 votes for PRP so far. We have way more Mopars than that on a weekly race day at PRP and I surly hope the Curt George Memorial race stays there. I never liked the track layout at Quaker City and the track prep will never be as good as it is at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. The grass is nice but if people would use there head and not pull thru the added asphalt in the pit spots, gravel would not be an issue.

We enjoy attending the Curt George Memorial. Any weekend that you decide on would be great. We enjoy coming to Pittsburgh Raceway Park, However, we have never been to Quacker City. Heard alot about it. We will be racing 3 cars this year. With Chasity driving 2 of the cars. Bratt Racing Ron, Debi and girls.

I appreciate the fact that Bob asked for some imput pertaining to this SPECIAL EVENT, sounds like he is still interested in continuing this race! I will voice my opinion on the location and date preference, although we will probable not be racing this year! Unfortunately the motor broke in Indy last year and I don't think that we will be ready until next season.
I believe that May or early June would be the best time due to the intense heat of late July or August, and I would like to see it moved to Quaker City. Where ever it is held, hope every enjoys and has a safe and fast week-end. HEMI JOE - Endangered Species Racing

For what my opinion is worth.. I think the track is better at PRP and the grounds are better at QCMP
If you haven't seen the burnout box at QC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1vp7j99d1o
It is interesting and a challengen for stick cars - its ok but takes some getting used to

To throw in another Mopar Date Michigan Mopar at Milan Dragway July 13th Saturday 1 day race, but Sunday Series race 14th so thats 2 days of racing.

The Chrysler Power Classic and All-Hemi Reunion is scheduled for Tri-State Dragway in Hamilton, OH, August 24-25, 2013. Marion County, Ohio is still up in the air. We'll also be doing an event October 19-20 in a slightly warmer climate. There will probably be another event, but it will depend on what BG is doing. It won't interfere with the Memorial.

Will you be running the same format as the 2008 Hemi Reunion? I’m wondering because doesn’t the box class run 1/8 mile at tri-state?

We plan on running 1/4. Tri-State does run 1/8 box in their weekly program since most NHRA ET series tracks are starting to follow that format.
