440 source hold up to Boost? - 01/17/13 02:28 AM
how well does a 440 source crank, rods hold up in the blown world? And/or is anyone using there components in a blown application? looking at their 400/470 crank and rods in a Hampton 671 topped 400/470 stroker, and to get the 8:1 compression run a Trw Forged piston, all said it should be around 10lbs of boost. also for the gentelman/ladies running a blown application, what type of ignition are you running?

I have a 3.75 stroke 446[.030] with Eagle rods, wiseco pistons but I had the crank gone over by Moldex.900HP and counting.

Wow thats alota Horse. are you using a 6 or 871? im building mine for street use and to be drivin alot, some say go bigger 871 and spin it slower. on that im undecided my car friends around here don't dable with blowers, to me it makes sence, low Compression, very tame cam, and dont need a big converter or crazy gears.

Im pretty sure an 871 13% percent overdriven with a street blower is safe.

?? but a stock crank and replacement cast pistons held up to 6 lbs of boost fine. Just remember to turn the fuel pump on!
