What are you looking for, power-wise? Purpose of the engine?

I've built a 484 C.I. wedge that was a 426 street wedge block, 4.320 bore with a 4.25 stroke crank. The 383 piston, with the right length long rod( I would use 6.7 H beam ), will be a lot lighter than the 426 stroker pistons are That combination, with good heads and cam, will work really well Just not as good as the bigger C.I. stroker motors will with the same parts, no replacement for displacement

Amen. The availability of bigblockchevy aftermarket rods in a myriad of lengths makes this thing easy.
