I turn my W-2 to 8200... same with my W-9 but have
had it as high as 9600.. just drilled all the oil holes
larger ported the pump on the W-2.. my W-9 is a R3
block with a dry sump.... all my rockers are T&D
EDIT
Both of these have a 3.79 crank... W-2 is 395ci and
the W-9 is 405ci

Have you run your car yet? Any times you want to share?

I shift mine at 7200-7300, r1a w9rp, wet sump ported and drilled, oil through push rods, etc.

Just some highway fun.

Looks like my pop won't be well enough to relieve us at the shop any time soon, so I guess we'll have to wait for a Sunday at ATCO in the spring.

I shift my R3 W8 376" at 9400 and go over the line between 9800 and 10,000. External pump, wet sump, Jesel valvetrain.

15 years ago I was shifting a bored out 360 with a stock cast crank at 8,000 and turning 8,600 at the stripe. Stock style high volume oil pump. Harland Sharp rockers.

20 years ago same short block with J heads and crane rockers spun it fairly hard too just did not make power over 8,000.

Lets ask this question, how many of you guys turning the motor over 8000rpm are running Stainless valves?

8,600 is all I turned it. It had a 4.125" stroke and did not need to turn higher.

How about a motor with 4.18x3.79 dragon slayer crank, cast intake single carb, cam is .280in 288ex at.050 .690 gross lift 1.65 rocker...what kind of RPM on something like that. I usually shift at 8000 and tried 8500 but it didnt make much difference so stayed at 8000
