Indy head bent exhaust valve - 11/19/12 07:46 PM

I got a bent valve on my 440-1 cast iron heads. so I call Indy and try to buy one. They answer right away, then tell me I have to buy a 40 buck minimum. So where would I buy 1 stock exhaust valve at? Does indy use Manely? I wanted to order today. thanks

1st why is it bent?

2nd look at the stem any ID?

3rd there are plenty of vendors that would sell a single including some board sponsors, you will need dimensions

manley, ferrea and others would have a valve for that but getting it immediately might be an issue

Just buy the valve size.11/32 stem,1.810 head,5.370 length.Manley and others make that valve. I have a lot of good used ones if thats your size,you can have.

I knocked the head over

.03445 thick or there abouts= Stock 11/32 ?

1.815
5.3850 long = stock or there abouts.

If someone could PM me a Number, I will get this done. Thanks for the help.

The head tipped into the other head right on the valve. They were all good before that. Now I have to surface the heads to.

I was in the same situation with my indy/rhs heads they told me a minimum of 40 bucks so i just ordered 3 valves.
For my heads they where the only choice snce apperently they make them themself or atleast designe them and have them made.
No other valve brand had what i needed.

manley lists two different exhaust valves for that application

racemaster valve 11381-1

severe duty valve 11813-1

ferrea list a couple different ones as well

F1885P

check their websites or just have Bob give you one

Thanks for the offer Josh, Bob mailed me one. I do want to add that , Every time I call Indy, they have answered the phone and no hold. I was not happy about a 40 dollar min charge, but they were ready to sell and ship to me.

I called them acting like a regular customer and didn't give them my business name or tell them about the 10's of thousands I have bought from them already. It may not have mattered anyways, I just wanted to see how they dealt with a regular call in type customer.

Top notch , So now, I will be needing a bottom end for this mega block. Should we have chatted longer? I have an appointment with a heart doc tomorrow, but I'm thinking 512,528, 540. I want to do the first bore 4.375 or under. I plan on a KB block after this.

Bob, for shipping me those valves, I have a set of 69 charger hemi headers just laying around, can you use them? They're yours if you can. 1 pipe was altered after they were installed in a cuda with an aftermarket front end. I saved the old tube piece, they work both ways.

We have to constantly try and teach you youngster but like your whole new generation you have to learn the hard way.

Bill,I have both,and Josh is trying to set me up.He wants to ambush me on Fast Mopar,but I'am old enough to remember Custer's last stand and General Custer asked his second in command"where did all them fricken indians come from".Seriously everyone knows Josh and I are really good friends, I think
