That's awesome! Untouched? Not even a multi-angle valve job, slight porting, unshrouding the valves or milling the heads?

One of my all time favorite cars.

69 Dart - 3,300-ish with me in it
STOCK .030 440 rebuild
MP .484 cam
STOCK 906 heads, freshened with a good 3 angle valve job
Eddy (original) Torker
Holley 750
Pro Parts 2" headers

Man VB 727 with OEM (Hemi?) 11" converter
3.91 SG
SS springs
9.0 x 28.0 slick

Best of 11.64 @ 116 in good air. 11.80's @ 115 in Sac summer air.

Changed to a .530/250-ish hyd cam, an 850 carb, 30" tall slicks and 4.30's and went 11.50 @ 117 in the summer and a best of 11.41 @ 118 in good air.

Oh...car never had race gas. Chevron "premimum" with a little Oct boost for good measure.

You mean those "not ported" "not acid-etched" $5000-up 906 heads?? Those are the farthest from untouched heads there are...

My old motor had the R280 in it but was a bit of a dog because it lacked comp and converter.
What RPM did you turn.
I've got a rusty 286 I use to prop my garage door open. i bet yours sounded pretty good, certainly a good running combo.

Best of 11.25@120.0 in a 69 A12 Runner w/ 12.5:1 and .626/.310 Cam Dynamics cam, 4.88's, 11.5x29.5 M&H's. The original 906 heads had original valves and valve guides, minor port relief and 3 angle valve job and were milled .020. That was in 1974.

Pretty sure I shifted at 6800 but as you know that was a long time ago and it did sound real good. If my 572 in the daytona starts breaking valve train parts with the 830 lift cam and the CRAZY spring pressures we use now I'm going to be using one of those old school cams again.

I'm a hoarder as I still probably have about 2-3 sets of those old TRW pistons in the garage attic.

Wow, some strong running combo's!

I'm impressed.

I put together very similar 440's. One with 906's and one with 452's and the 906 headed motor feels quite a bit stronger. I haven't had it to the track yet, though.
