Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/16/12 01:38 AM

I made an offer to buy the show which gained me Norwalk and Columbus Dates

Offer was accepted

I called national trails in columbus and introduced myself and wanted to get some dialogue started with the track.

They explained to me that monster Mopar would not be granted a date at their track.

They had some wierd notion that I had partnered with blankinships.

Once that was cleared up there was no reason for me to purchase the company as I was confident in earning the Norwalk date on my own merit which I did.

Josh,

How many dates/locations do you have planned for 2013??

Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/16/12 02:49 AM

well I had 3 planned until Friday.....

Norwalk is 2nd weekend in September like always

Indy is shaping up to be last weekend in June

St Louis was going to be the 2nd weekend in May, but it appears the track bumped us off their schedule for the Super Chevy Mopar Action wannabe mopar thing

how about a race in michigan

Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/16/12 09:43 PM

Josh, this sucks. I've never seen someone work so hard to start a series and get screwed by half the tracks you planned to race at...where the series had run in one form or another for years at both locations!
As there are many fish in the sea there are many drag strips in the Midwest. I know the discussion has happened elsewhere on this forum but I do believe Pittsburgh or Quaker City in northeast Ohio are both worth a look!
Good luck, don't get discouraged, and thanks for the work you've put in already!

Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/16/12 10:00 PM

WELL ain't that just great!
Then why not look at Bowling Green or Bristol around the same time frame as St Louis was supposed to have been. And book Pitt instead of Columbus in their time slot.

Well I'm from Michigan too, but US 131 is a great track, still a 3 hour drive for me but well worth the trip.

Norwalk is closer to me than 131 so I can't be that biased, can I? LOL

Never been there but heard good things about Stanton's Mid Michigan Motorplex too

Stanton is super nice, at least it was 10 years ago when I was there. Too far north though, especially with Norwalk and Indy.

Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar?

Mo-powered series.

Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/17/12 03:11 AM

As far as Stanton go's it's falling apart, and getting worst every year.
Now 131 is top notch track. All summer long it's full of NHRA/IHRA pro cars during the week.
Would like to see 131 on the short list .

I like 131. Didn't know Stanton was going downhill, then again, I've never been there.

I'd rather race at 131 than Mid-Mich... 131 is just
nicer all the way around... plus 131 is IHRA... Mid-Mich
is NHRA

Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/17/12 04:36 AM

Yeah, I like IHRA better too.

I think there needs to be a race at Rockingham. And it has absolutely nothing to do with it being my home track and it being close to me. LOL You guys crack me up.

It just amazes me how nobody is willing to drive to a race. Everybody that pops up and says have a race here,it seems 9 times out of 10 to be the state they live in.

What some of you guys don't understand is some of us race ever weekend not 3 or 4 times a year at Mopar only events.

I think it is great some of you are able to race every weekend. I would love to be able to afford to do that. But my reality is I'm only able to go a few times a year. And I live less than 20 miles from the track.

Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/17/12 05:15 PM

A lot of it is because of the higher cost's of traveling than before, plus I think some are promoting their home tracks also, hoping to help them and also the local economy,,OK here's mine, Pacemakers, nice local 1/8th mile track here in the center of Ohio and 1.5 miles from my house,,,,may the begin.

Norwalk and Milan are a lot closer to me than 131, heck, Milan is 20 minutes from me but I didn't say a word about it.

I suggested 131 because it IS a nice track and Chrysler Classic events have been held there in the past AND I can personally vouch for how nice it is. Seems most out-of-staters have no idea how big Michigan really is.

I went to Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis just last month to Josh's event. Almost a 5 hour drive each way. So it's not like I don't go anywhere.

It is the same distance for me to go to Indianapolis as it is for me to go to Northern Michigan Dragway, which is in Michigan. LOL.

When you guys start talking about going farther north to race, how you think I feel in NC.

The track there at Rockingham has "Mopars at The Rock", in April for the Mopar crowd, and it is only a one day show.

Why yes I did, don't know what went wrong but it sure seemed funny that the lights didn't seem to work like the crosstalk was on,and all I ever heard before was "we can't turn crosstalk off", I think they found out how that day.

Re: Mo-powered series or Monster Mopar - 10/23/12 05:10 PM

I would love to see one at Pacemaker's. I use travel to Pacemaker's and lived about 1.5 miles from Norwalk. I always chuckled to myself when I drove past Norwalk on my way home from a night of racing at Pacemaker's and Norwalk was still in the first round. (course I hardly never made it past first round at Pacemaker's as well)
Pacemaker's is a good little track. The only problem is see is pit space.

I'd love to see a Mopar race at Pacemakers too but it seems to be a challenge to get Mopar racers to show up for to an 1/8th mile track.
