Mopars I Never See at the Strip

Mopars I Never See at the Strip - 09/25/12 10:58 PM

At the local track I never see any '68-'70 B Bodies being raced. I also never see any E Bodies of any year being raced. What I see is lots of '62-'65 B Bodies, some '66-'67 B-Bodies, and A Bodies of all years.

Just wondering if that's been your experience too? Are the cars not there because they are getting too valuable as collector cars?

There are a couple of those B bodies that race here, both are very, nice cars. Once in awhile there's an E body that shows up with a Blown Cheby in it (it's already hacked so who cares).

I rarely see any early B bodies, lot's of A's including my own but only a few early A's.

O'side, the local track must be Barona.
I ran my E-Body junk there a couple times until it broke.
Most Es in the area are restored, that I saw.
Aren't there a couple F bodies still running out there?

I like seeing clean B's & E's on the track, but I see the trend too.

It wasn't like this before these cars became "investments".

I used to run my A-12 hard, but the fun wore off after the value

went up. All of these cars were more fun when they weren't worth

anything.

What's Irwindale like? How does it compare to Barona in terms of track prep/traction, air, shut down area, etc? Thanks!

I've raced mine the past two Fridays on T&T night, and would've participated in a third but Jegs wanted to ship my parts a day later than online checkout said. Thanks Jegs! Perhaps I'll go back to Summit. At least they honor their word or make it right. <rant off> Carry on..

Re: Mopars I Never See at the Strip - 09/26/12 02:41 AM

I have only been to Barona a couple of times (I have to remember details).

Irwindale is not as wide.

Shut down is as long (or longer). But with a small bump.

It is all paved.

Track prep can be a issue at times they don't have enough equip.
and thursdays there are street tired cars, but I have 60' there as good as anywhere.

It is next to the freeway, and cost $20 for a fun night($20 more for king of the hill bracket race)

The only mopar (other than mine) you might see at a track around here is a Duster...even then, that's rare.
Most people I meet at the track think I'm crazy to be beating on mine, but it's fun.

I race mine, but I don't like hood scoops on Chargers and I don't want a rollbar so I'm limited to 11:50's

Love your car, Chip! Always wanted an E-body and yours definitely gets it done for a N/A street car.
