Carbon fiber tubs - 09/17/12 01:52 AM

Any one running them on the street.I wonder how well them would take rocks.Already have the aluminum ones. But i like the looks of the carbon fiber ones if they would be quieter and not star from the rocks.

who makes them and how much do they cost. I am sure they would crack with a huge rock but carbon fiber is very tuff.

Places like Quarter-Max and Jerry Bickel Race Cars sell them, not a big variety in sizes though.

Mine are from RJ race cars...they have a rock gaurd built into them. I'm sure they would dent/chip in the non protected areas if driven alot on the street.

The quality C/F tubs have a liner epoxied to the bottom side to protect them, but it typically covers only the center area over the tire. IE, doesn't cover entirely above the tire. I have heard of people making a thin pc of alum sheetmetal to make a rock guard as wide as the tub and attaching it to the underside up against the c/f tub. I would thing a pc of .032, a few rivets and some blk paint would hide it nicely and do a world of good for a street car.

My Jerry Bickel carbon fiber tubs are lined with Kevlar for the rocks.
