Monster Mopar 2013 Poll - 09/04/12 11:56 PM

Do we move the Indy date or do we move Norwalk?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Indy. Norwalk usually has great air and weather that weekend. I've been to all but one Norwalk event ( the year it rained all weekend).

Move the Indy date. The Norwalk date is already set with the previous owner and alot of people showed for it that didn't go to Indy. Either way I have to go to the rest of your races or I won't get any sleep for the rest of my life.

I hate to say it but move Norwalk, one of the 4 races will have to held in the middle of the summer and Norwalk is the farthest North and would hopefully be coolest in the summer months

I don't really care ..just as long as they are apart a month..Norwalk has been on that date along time. everyone has their mind set on it being in sept. so with that said. Maybe Indy . I think it will come down to how you can make it work.

I say Indy.. I would goto Indy but its just to big of a turn around to make it back out to Indy in a week. And if you think that Northeast Ohio is cooler in the summer than the south you havent been up here lol

Very risky. The first weekend in October is always a crapshoot as far as weather goes. The second weekend, NMCA World Finals are there October 11-14, and probably October 10-13 2013 as well.

Re: Monster Mopar 2013 Poll - 09/05/12 01:38 PM

It really don't matter anyone who is going to show up will no matter which race is first.Indy and Norwalk are both top shelf tracks and there is fun to be had at both, all I care about is getting the most people to show up at all of them so we can race fore more money.

I like Norwalk as the season closer but change is fun if you have a open mind.
Hope to see you all there and sorry in advance if I keep you up at night grilling and drinking

I would move Indy to June or July. Norwalk will always draw more cars than Indy for the final event of the year. I think if you have Indy in June or July, more racers will go there in hopes of staying in the points chase. Its my opinion that more people will go to Indy earlier in the year than would go to Indy in October. Just my

With only 4 races;

columbus
st louis
norwalk
indy

I can't see how any races would be back to back, what are you going to do the rest of the summer?

let's think out loud here;

Columbus May ??
St Louis June??
Norwalk Sept??
Indy Sept??

July ??
August??

Norwalk already has 3 weekends in Aug. with long running events, the NHRA National event is in early July then they have 2 other Special events after that. I just don't know how you'd get a different date. What about Us131 in Martin? Michigan needs a big mopar event.Have that one in July or Aug. move Indy to May problem solved!

that is total BS since when do the people of the Mopar Nats run and schedule the track?? Mopower was in May, Nats is in August, thats at least 2 months apart, If there won't be a Columbus event then that will thoroughly pi$$ me off.

Sounds like Jim Belinda doesn't want any competition now that a successful promoter is putting on events. Why are the owners of NTR listening to him anyway?

I could be selfish and suggest Milan as an alternate, buit something futher south would probably be better.

No Columbus race just sucks. Sorry to hear this Josh. IMO the Mopar Nats sucks for racers so I'm not seeing why he is so concerned. How about Kil-Kare instead. That is going to be a really nice facility next season with the poured walls and concrete racing surface

I was told that Columbus would not honor any prior contracts, and this is the last year that mopower events have a contract.

I don't fault Jim from Mopar Nats or the track. I would not allow another event at one of my tracks I go to.

Im not happy with not being made aware of this from the beginning. but oh well. I was prepared.

On to bigger things, like I said. Columbus was a chess piece for me and I now don't need it as no one can do a Mopar show other than The current Mopower now folks

FWIW The Hot Rod Super Nationals use to be held at the Canfield Fairgrounds just down the road from Quaker City 5000+ cars.
Could be good fit.

Something just doesn't sound right on the National Trails / Mopar Nats deal. I don't think any event held there would hurt the Mopar Nats attendance, it's a whole different event than any other.

Re: Monster Mopar 2013 Poll - 09/09/12 05:57 PM

Ok, so Kick this idea around and tell me what you think.....

Monster Mopar East Vs West

West Divison = Indy and St Louis

East Division = (2) Unknown Tracks, but Im thinking MIR and another track that is Under 8 hours from Norwalk

Saturday and Sunday will be separate Points Races so each division has 4 points opportunities

We will automatically choose your best 4 points races, so if you only go to two of the tracks you have 4 points contributions, or if you go to all 4 tracks we would still only pick 4 (any combination of saturday and sunday races) Also if you do great at indy and poor at st louis you can travel to one of the other tracks to make up for it

After those races are held, we will all meet in Norwalk for the East V West Final for a double points race and to crown the series champ.
Posted By: joshking440

Re: Monster Mopar 2013 Poll - 09/09/12 06:01 PM

Milan is not an option for multiple reasons..... Track Staff, stability of the facility, the overall facility, the history of the facility, if the facility will have glue when you show up or not.... just not an option....

I will look at pics of Quaker City and see what that looks like....

I really want tracks with 80% paved pits, lots of local hotels, and the ability to host after hour festivities...

We can all just bracket race anywhere....these need to be more!!!

Re: Monster Mopar 2013 Poll - 09/09/12 07:59 PM

Bristol Dragway, great track , plenty hotels, and the after hours cruise would be awesome, and less then 8 hours from Norwalk, and keep the labor day weekend date .

Re: Monster Mopar 2013 Poll - 09/09/12 08:37 PM

Josh I like the idea of east vs west but why not just pick the top 4 races no matter where they run. I think that's what you are proposing just not explicitly stating it.

I think with the distance to travel for a lot of drivers they will more apt to sign up for the points program if you keep 4-6 claims in the first 4 races then Norwalk as a claim as well. I know for me Indy is about 7 hours towing and St Louis is out of the picture. I would travel to the other 3 and sign up for a points program knowing that missing St Louis wouldn't hurt my chances at an overall championship.

Looking at the tracks around here getting 80% paved pits may be an issue. PRP has the most asphalt around here and they are not near 80%.

Quaker is a nice track as well not going to have the pavement you are looking for in the pits.

I like this idea. You don't have to hit all the races. I would plan to go to all 4 anyway! never raced at MIR but people say it's a real good track. Don't know about hotels and after hours stuff though. Atco would be a good choice. Top notch track outside of Philly.

We would pick the top 4 races regardless of what tracks an individual would run. But you would not be limited to just 2 tracks. You can go to all 4 and take a crack at it, or you can dominate 2 and stay home for the other 2

I expect that most people will hit 3 of the races and the final at norwalk if it was set up that way....most people are not going to all 4

I would!

Sorry about not being able to go to Columbus, but that is their loss!!!! I would definately look into Quaker City - if it was good enough for the HEMI REUNION it should be good enough for your race!! HEMI JOE

With Columbus out,it's a no-brainer,Pittsburgh Raceway Park/Curt Memorial Race in June.No conflicting schudle.

Pittsburgh would be a good choice if it would fit in and Quaker City would be a nice choice too as that seems to be a popular track in that area, plus I am sure the new owners would appreciate the concideration.

Josh,
It sounds like you want to stay at top notch tracks, which I agree is the way to go to run a top notch series. Indy, Norwalk and St. Louis all fit that bill, I have raced at all 3, and they are very nice. As far as facilities go, I think that the best remaining are:

1. Z-Max in NC, probably nicest, but may not fit
2. Bristol, very nice place, but kind of unpopulated location
3. US 131, Martin MI, seems like a good fit-besides the east-west
4. Maple Grove, very nice place and not too far east.

However, Pittsburgh is probably the smartest choice. It is a familiar venue for Mopar series racers, and sounds like Bob George wants to be involved.

I would love to see Quaker City be on your schedule. It a nice place and will draw cars. It is within a few hours of probably the majority of the racers that will run points. It shouldn't be too expensive, and the owner is a good guy with an open mind.

Can't wait until next year!

BTW, are you planning on running max wedge and hemi seperate or as a NSS class?

I will always run my Nss class by nss rules. I'm hoping to gain steam with the Hemi super stock crowd and always be able to give them a place to race as well.

My only hiccup with nss is the separation of organizations. I want separate points races both Saturday and Sunday, and we do that to accommodate 2 groups of cars.
