Nights of Fire at Woodburn Dragstrip - 07/26/12 04:11 PM

Any moparts members going? We'll be racing in the special Outlaw 10.5 race that should be worth the price of admission itself. There are supposed to be 32 cars entered in a 10 grand winner take all event. Hope to see some of you guys.

Re: Nights of Fire at Woodburn Dragstrip-Update - 07/30/12 11:11 PM

First let me say that this facility is awesome. The track is as good as any we've been on EVER. The racers and fans are nothing short of unbelievable. We were getting standing ovations after every pass. I won't soon forget this experience.
Now for the racing. We still had some lingering teething issues so we had to do some fighting all weekend. We did qualify number 1 with a 4.29/177 1/8th mile. We had the four quickest and fastest runs of the event. In round one eliminations we had a bye run. On that pass we went 4.25/180 but we blew an injector O ring out of the fuel rail and the car was in flames. The raceway staff was right on it and kept the car from burning to the ground. We have some damage but we will have it fixed soon.We will then implement some ideas we have regarding the O rings. We simply cannot let this happen again. The O ring just failed for no good reason so it certainly could happen again if not addressed. Unfortunately that's the story. We cwere in great position to take this race down but the proverbial 50 cent part cost us ten grand.

We went and we kicked some serious Dragster but, We won Fridays Electronic Gamblers Race and then doubled it up with a win in the Dragster vs Door Car Winner Take All Shoot Out That Started Friday night and finished on Saturday. Would like to have seen more of the 10.5 cars running only got to see a few. They kept running us right behind them overall and awesome weekend.

Bob,
It was a pleasure meeting and talking to you and Jason about our motor stuff. It is very impressive the clinic you guys put on with only a couple passes on combo. A true testament to the caliber of an operation you guys have going on. That car is a work of art. Hope the damage isnt to severe. Ryan........Del

Bob,

I sent Jason a text as soon as I heard that there was a fire. (Made me think of Bakersfield all over again) Jason said it was nothing like Bakersfield, which was good to hear. He also told me how much boost that thing is making, which is insane.
I feel sorry for anyone that lines up, against that car, when it is all sorted out. I already warned Doug that I am going to find a small spot on the car, to place a subtle, blue Mopar "M" sticker.

So true about the "crew" w/Bob,Doug and Jason and the power he can produce. I`ve been watching Pettis put the hurt on the guys in the other lane for many, many years and expect no less..........now if I can just get back to working at Pettis (which we`ve discussed)I could watch the whoopins up close and personal..........AGAIN. Great solid first serious outing and hopefully you guys can repair the minor damage and figure out the o-ring issues.......

It was a pleasure for me to meet you. Jason will get you all set up with your motor(s).
The damage is mostly cosmetic. The worst of it is the wiring and hoses that got burned up. We will get a new hood. The fenders and front are OK.

I'll make sure Doug leaves your sticker on. After all it is Mopar power. Doug, Jason and I are thoroughly impressed with the hemi. Needless to say this is the best combo we have ever had. The 4.25/180 was on a soft tune. The car is absolutely magnificent. The only issues we had were the 600' wheelies. We never spun the tires and all the other cars were struggling to get down the track. Kind of sucks about the O ring because this was our race to lose. We were a quarter of a second better than anyone there and we had more if needed.

He handed out several cards over the weekend to guys who want some of that Pettis power. A couple of them were Mopar guys.

Bob,
Sorry I didn't get to meet you, but I did get to watch Dave Biancalana smoke his competition, twice in a row. You guys scared me a bit slidding all over the track the way it looked. Congrats Dave! What a feat to accomplish.
