Abilene Texas Dragstrip

The Abilene Dragstrip has been purchased and from what I understand will re-open next year after all required repairs have been made to the return road and parking areas. It's a great 1/8th mile strip. All concrete and very good bite when prepped properly. The new owner is a racer and a manager has not been determined yet - as far as I know. All you Texas racers should start checking the website so you can pencil Abilene in your schedule next year unless they have a BIG money Shootout this year.

Thats GREAT NEWS!! Abilene's one of my favorite tracks. Did Sterling buy it ? Man thats so good to here that they'll be back. Some fall dates would be great.Maybe Sunset Racecraft will be a sponsor again.

David - Yes, Sterling bought it. Sole his car dealership. He is going to fix the pits and return road before he opens it. Maybe I can get mine finished and be out there a little m0ore frequently. Supposed to have stents put in one of these days but shouldn't slow me down very much, In fact, should speed me up.

That's great news. Lived there in Abilene from 1993 to 2003 and after all the effort (years) of running races at the Airport with set-up and tear-down , then to finally have a permanent facility built , then to have it close ....glad to hear it's opening again! Hope it all comes together.
