Have you ever been reusing the steel shim head gaskets?

I just had finished the rebuild of a 440 Magnum for a friend of mine and before it was run for the first time he bought a set of ported 906's and wanted to have them on the motor. I had used steel shim head gaskets and thought to reuse them by spraying a new coat of Mopar red gasket sealant on them, but some fellows had told to this friend that the steel shim gaskets can't be reused.

How is it by your experiences, can they be reused or not and if I am reusing them is there an increased risk of head gasket leakage?

Just my opinion,, copper coat them and put them on, if you can re-use cometics several times then why not a single steel shim, if it were my motor I would chance it, if it were a used motor that had some miles on it, then not so much.

Don't tell anyone but I have reused used steel shim gaskest on RB and race 426 street hemi motors, I made sure to put them back on the motor on the same side and installed them with the same side up Make sure their not hurt first

Especially on the same side, the same way.
