Floor Supports for A-990 style 62-65 Super Stock Seats - 03/20/12 05:01 PM

For those that have the A-990 style seats and brackets in their cars. Basically you are bolting the seat bracket to thin sheet metal unless a support of some sort is used.

What, if anything, are you doing to reinforce the floor around the seat brackets. Especially the inner bracket?

my real A-990 Plymouth uses the 4 on each side floor supports as found on bucket seat cars.

What about if you are installing A-100 van seats or Gary Ball style superstock seats, into an original 62-65 B-Body bench seat car? Any photos or good ideas?

What are you thinking of Brent? Making a plate for the bottom of the car to distribute the stress over a larger area?

Hi Kenny, yes, something along those lines is what is needed to spread out the stress. With the brackets and no support, the floor "oil cans" and is unstable and ultimately, unsafe.

Correct. My dad had a real 64 car. however the problem people run into with those buckets using those holes is it crams the seat real close to the wheel. Maybe people where shorter back then. Alot of people end up setting them further back, and at that point they are just bolting through sheet metal.

I saw a cool 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I altered wheel base car at a car show last week. I looked under the car and noticed the support plates for the A-990 super stock style front bucket seats.

Does anyone know where these steel oval stamped dished support plates can be purchased??? A reply with a name of the supplier of this part would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Cool 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I altered wheelbase with hemi, which has the floor pan seat brackets shown above.

Any ideas where to find the floor pan oval seat plates?
