The Daytona is back home again. Thanks dusty. - 03/04/12 01:19 AM

I would like to thanks moparts member James Klee (bodyworks racing) for the excellent job getting the body on my wrecked Daytona repaired. This job was way over my head and without his help may have never been completed. Any body shop can take a regular car apart, repair the damage, assemble, and paint but not everyone will take on a job like this. He repaired the cage damage, redid the damaged aluminum, removed and installed a new roof, removed quarter panel and installed one off a donor car with the needed modifications, and installed the new hairy glass rear panel. They also fabed up all new braces and installed zus fasteners. The works not done yet but he now has it were Matt and I can do the finish work and hopefully get it out next year. Thanks James for the excellent job. I would also like to thank his coworker but I am having a blond moment and can't remember his name.

I think I will be going with red Doug. I have all Summer to think about it because I will be racing the Duster this year. I will not go another year without racing and I think I will be running points this year. Matt and I have a little bet going to see who can win the most money this year so I have my work cut out. I opened my big mouth and challenged him. Imagine that. Now I have to start assembling backups in case I break anything.

Let me know if you need any help.

I'll be doing my best to get the Duster out this year (for sure!!!!)

I think I even remember how to swing a paint gun, if you need some paint thrown on the Daytona!!

Thanks Thumper. Lots of work left yet. I have to check out the bearings in the 572 to see if any oil starvation happened when it rolled over and I will be removing the 440-1 heads and going with my B1's this time.

I am one of the biggest pac rats that you would ever want to meet. At last count I had 2 sets of B1's, 2 sets of 440-1's, 1 set of 440source, 1 set of W2's, and I think 6 sets of small block edelbrock. I love aluminum.

Thanks guys. I hope to see you at the Curt George Memorial Race too Bill. I'm about ready to go but I guess I will have to give Matt a little kick in the butt to get him motivated. He kinda has a bad case of "girlfriend on the brain" at the moment which leads to very little shop time. The season is approaching real fast.

Hey I took lots of pictures of those flames and they have caused me many sleepless nights thinking about how to go about reproducing them.(you know those were done by hand) I think there's a market for these out there and I could be a rich racer instead of a broke racer. Don't forget about the bumblebee stripe.

Re: The Daytona is back home again. Thanks dusty. - 03/07/12 12:27 AM

Hey John,

I've been holding at a XXL shirt size for a while now. Must be all those 113 lb brake drums, & 120 lb clutches I move around!! On the plus side, I've dropped to 235 lbs!!

I would have to shrink to about 5ft, 7in to be at my high school size (that was a long time ago, thanks for reminding me!!).
