Crane Iron Rockers Question

Crane Iron Rockers Question - 02/21/12 01:24 PM

Can the Crane iron rockers handle 6500-7200rpm blasts with a solid flat with 140/350 spring pressures & .515 lift? Or should I just go with Harland Sharp to be safe? I love my Sharpe's on my 440, 6500rpm everytime it gets started & after a year the lash is still dead on. The new rockers will be on a 11:1 iron headed, tunnelramed 383.
Thanks.

The H.S. are way better If you go with the ductile iron rockers you need the proper shafts to avoid galling the shafts and rockers up

Preferences, but I like the simplicity and strength of properly bushed ductile iron rockers.

What size is the cam? Seems like alot of rpm for the size of that cam.

but that kit uses a reduced diameter shaft I wouldn't want a smaller shaft it would cause more flex.

Re: Crane Iron Rockers Question - 02/22/12 12:25 AM

It will be fine. I use to run my 383 to 7000 with the Isky ductile iron units. Those use to be the standard years ago and guys ran them with rollers all the time. Get the right shaft.

Re: Crane Iron Rockers Question - 02/22/12 12:33 AM

Not sure, they have proper spacers, not springs, i'm not even sure if they're crane or isky, they have a flat screwdriver slot on the adjuster.
I've had a rocker back out before, only did superficial damage, they look very sturdy, compared to the alloy ones. That's why i stick with them.

I've been using the same set of Crane Ductile rockers for 10 years now in my 446 with a comp 650 lift flat tappet , with no issues. I shift at 6800.

Re: Crane Iron Rockers Question - 02/22/12 05:10 PM

Whats the secret to not gall the rockers? Plenty of oil yes.. But
It seems like some guys never have any issues and others burn up
Adjusters, gall rockers, seizing on shafts etc Id like to have the
Durability of iron and keep the cost down not being bushed
