I don't race but a handful of times a year, but when I do I drive my car to the track. Pacific Raceways is about a 20 mile drive for me, and Bremerton is about 45 miles, but I prefer a day spent there.

You guys back east are spoiled with all the small tracks you have to choose from.

I have Edgewater 4 miles from my house, can get there without going through any traffic lights. Then Tri-State is only about 10 miles away. Earned my TAD license in Salem Ohio.
The farthest we ever went is Vegas to race. We did the NHRA Div 3 thing for 10 years,so only one race a year was in town.

Re: How far do you drive to race? - 02/19/12 06:28 PM

I race at Bristol as much as I can, its 80 miles each way, but we race two days in a row and sleep in the trailer. I have to drive past Cherokee raceway park, 11 miles from my home, to go to Bristol. Not much of a sacrifice though. English Mountain is abot 45 miles, Knoxville is approx 60 miles and London, Ky and Crossville are about 100 miles each.

Sometimes I race at Capital in Md which is actually closer as it is about 37 miles. Knock on wood I have always been able to drive it home. Ron

About 6 miles ~ 15 minutes. 5 of those minutes is getting down our road without ripping off the collector extensions. When we get our house finished up the hill that time will likely increase to 20 minutes total.

The ferry is too expensive to trailer or I'd up the ante on the power.
