Trying to figure out my compression ratio with new heads. I've got a .055 over dish venolia piston in a 440 zero decked .039" heads gasket and B1-BS heads 65cc chamber. I'm hoping for close to 12:1 comp but not sure what it will be.
Thanks for any and all info

Well you have to know the cc of the dish!

I couldn't find dish pistons on the venolia site but i looked at a couple of other sites and they look like -30 dish.

Contact Venolia with the piston part number or job number and get the exact CC for your pistons and the go to United(KB) Machine web site and click on the technical help or on line calculator and then compression ratio, plug your specs in, use + for the dish CC on your piston dome or valve relifs and it will give you a real close compression ratio My Ross custom dish pistons for 9.25 to 1 comp. ratio with 86 CC heads are 22.0 CC dish 4.375 bore with a 4.25 stroke, pistons are -.025 from the top of the deck

At 540" acheiving 12+ CR will be no problem with the proper distance for quench...even with a good sized dish. Personally I would CC the piston at TDC in the block. Find TDC, wipe some fine lithium grease around the piston crown to seal and then "CC".
