What width 8-3/4 housing will fit under this truck? Perches don’t matter I can weld them anywhere. I have one out of a 70s era van (wide perch pads on top) but it seems too wide?

I have a friend who swapped an 8 3/4 into a step side truck. It came out of a C body car, but I have no idea what year car. I do remember it was almost identical to an E body rearend. He lowered his truck, but you could weld perches on top and use it regular truck style. I'm swapping an 8 3/4 out of a 68 Dodge pickup into my 88 D100 and it is a bolt in. I even found 8 3/4 truck axles that have the 5.5 bolt circle so I can use the brakes back from the existing 9 1/4 in the 88. Good luck with your search. If you want me to do some measuring for you when I get home from the beach, shoot me a PM. I have the truck 8 3/4 out where I can measure, and also have an E body 8 3/4 in my stash to compare it to. up

Here's an axle width chart from the Moparts Archives.....Width Linky

While there's no van listed, you can compare it to the widths shown here for C-bodies and D-100 truck.

From personal experience, a '77 C-body axle was the same width as the one in the '76 D100 truck I had. Just needed new perches as you mentioned.

The van one I have is the right size 64-1/4, 2.94 8-3/4 941 housing. Will work great thanks
Also have the 8-1/4 under the 73 Newport that’s 64-1/4 but don’t know that ratio yet. Once I put the 440 in the truck I want a nice low RPM street gear. Options
