Not personally but I have seen a few with big block swaps Steve Scott from the old Yahoo A100 group had a 383 powered van he raced & a friend of my neighbor built one with a 440.You most likely will have to trim some floor to fit and modify the doghouse.I have a '67 A100 van with a 318&3.91 axle, and considering a G3 Hemi swap for it.What trans and axle are in your truck? I saw your truck in the pics thread, nice looking machine.

I seriously thought about it, but in the end decided to stay with the small block. Less hassles.

Build a small block 408 stroker and save a lot of fabbing issues.

I'll add one thing here. Consider a stroking a late model 5.2 or 5.9 Magnum even, which you can still find in salvage yard but, getting a slim at least around here.

there was a 1965 or 66 A100 pickup up on one of those used car lot "angle iron" ramps many, many [and many more] years ago on the way to work.
i stopped to look, and it had a poly 318/727 combo.
first thing i thought of was a big block swap.
after doing some measuring, i came to the conclusion, a 383 [or 400] would fit great, requiring only motor mount biscuits and swapping the transmission guts into a big block case. [it had a shorty tail shaft and a sliding yoke like a 4 wheel drive would have]
i can't remember what the asking price was, but the body was pretty sound, while the interior was bare with ratty seat covers.
one of those things one wishes he would have bought, but on the other hand, i can't seem to finish what projects i have as it is. laugh2

moparx.your on the right track.i contacted a guy on facebook that put a big block in.he used a 400 because its smaller.he used a powerglide because its shorter.early b body motor mounts.and a body chassis headers.anything can be done.he said the engine comes in and out on the passenger side.its a project im kicking around

mopar lulu.what motor mounts did you use.what heads are those.i wont do mine till next year.but looking at how people did theres.what trans are you using .are you using a 727 out of a rv with short tail shaft

Re: big block a-100 - 12/21/22 05:05 AM

I made the motor mounts on the engine. Mounts off the frame are small block came with the truck, solid mount on the drivers side, stock rubber on the passenger. Heads are 270 trick-flow, trans is a standard length 727, just a REALLY short drive shaft!

Did you have any cooling issues with the big block? I have an A100 going together (I'm in Az) and I am worried that this cooling system will have a hard time with a decent small block.

I wish. Lol. It was at Moparfest years ago. There are usually several really nice A100s there and most of them were built and sold by the guy that built this one. Magazine pretty in every respect.
