Nice. I have been looking for a decent and decently priced short bed for a while!

Beautiful stance. What are the wheels and tire specs?

Re: New to me d100 truck - 07/16/22 02:31 AM

295/50/15 on the rear
235/50/15 on the front I think
The wheels are unknown other than the rears are ten inch wide.
This is the way I purchased it

I just blew out the fuel pump
At least I hope that’s what it is
The fuel no Getty to carb so I can only assume it’s the pump

If not the pump I’ll be needing to research the issue more from the pump back

I also received my Cvf racing kit in today
This kit mounts the ac compressor I’ve bought. I also received my ac underdash system
So I should be don’t with this by Monday

I’d like then to try my converter install. This stock converter works great but I’m wanting to rid myself of two issues. The massive rpm drop from park to drive. And the truck trying to push through the brakes while idling in gear

Which me luck

As far as the fuel pump goes, I have had rubber lines at the tank crack before so the pump couldn't pick up the fuel. When you disconnect the tank line from the pump, put a little air pressure in it and crawl under to listen for a possible leak. Since you are taking that line loose either way, it doesn't take long to check.

had one where the metal line coming out of the fuel sender rotted so it was sucking air.

Re: New to me d100 truck - 07/18/22 12:09 AM

A agree with both of the above. I've repaired the steel line coming through the sending unit, as well as between the tank and the frame. I have also seen both the rubber hoses at each end of the steel lines cracked enough they didn't leak fuel, but could suck air. Look the fuel lines and the rubber in them over carefully. Probably wouldn't hurt to at least change the hoses.

Lets not forget that some carbs have a brass filter at the fuel inlet (especially if someone swapped a GM carb onto your truck), or an inline filter that could also be plugged.

Re: New to me d100 truck - 07/18/22 01:12 AM

Gotta be the pump or in the fuel system leading to the tank

I have the pump on it now
Just gotta find out if it works now. The fuel filter is cruddy. Like there is trash in the tank
I fear it’s blocked in the tank at this point

I’m not able to blow air through the line due to the position of the truck
So that idear is out for now. Soon as I get the ac comp mounted I’ll test this pump
But when I removed it I got very little fuel out of the feed line

Got my ac up and running today
Going to go with a higher amp alt to help it charge better at idle though
Voltage drops to 12.3 when at idle with the ac on

Make sure to smell oil

Ihave lost a couple bb enginesbefore with bad pump dumping fuel into crank case.
Check that oil or change it anyway to be safe.

Bb fuel pumps are known for dump fuel into crankcase.
