What do you guys like best with either LED or HID bulbs...Hit a big deer this morning and need to replace the headlights.

I had a 2014 with factory headlights, don't know what they were but they were awesome. Low beam came on immediately and was nice, the high beams came on and you could see everything but the first time you turned on the high beam it would take a probably 10 seconds for them to get bright, after that they would come on and off like normal lights but they projected out in a very definitive plane and the road and everything low lying was very visible and the stuff above got no significant light so they would not really shine in oncoming cars eyes too bright till they got close, it was a very neat effect and made driving at night way more pleasant especially in the rain. I have a 2011 right now and if you could retrofit them to a 2011 it would be the best choice ever I think, if I ever hit a deer thats what I am going to try.

I had a 2012 Ram for a company truck one time and the stock headlights were so horrid there should have been a safety recall in regards to the performance of them. I did some research at the time and realized it was a common problem unless you got a truck with factory HID's.

Having said that, I would HIGHLY recommend upgrading the lights, but don't just upgrade the bulbs. Choose the lighting type you want, then get the appropriate housings for them otherwise most of the light output will be just scatter and not usable (and blind oncoming drivers)...I see this everyday with all these people who went on Amazon/Ebay about purchased the brightest LED bulb's they could find and stick them in stock housings.

It gets expensive to buy complete housings, but if your housings are good after hitting the deer, you can buy the retrofit kits that require disassembling the housing and epoxying a new projector type base into the housing then gluing the exterior lens back on.

I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500HD for work, my 97 Cherokee and 68 Barracuda both have better lights, especially in the rain the Silverado lights seem to disappear.

So I still can't find any I like......Dealer wants $252 my cost for the lens and I would still have to upgrade to LED's....Looked at a lot of the ones on Summit, and they are getting bad write ups....

Ive never had a problem with ram headlights, My biggest issues with aftermarket projector HID LED etc headlights is they are usually blinding to oncoming traffic and dont always light up the right areas and they usually yellow pretty fast.
The last set I tried to buy for our 99 GMC was a bad fit but worse the brackets were so [censored] that they flexed like rubber and the lights constantly bounced around. Then the pandemic hit so those went back and we've been living with the old cloudy ones.

I put a set of these in the lower bumper openings on my 01. Complete game changer for driving at night. So good and so cheap I bought a spare set in case they quit making them. See they’ve gone up $5 since my purchase 5 years ago laugh2
