2004.5 Cummins 2146 error code, any truck Techs?

Truck engine light came, truck started losing power and bucking. Pulled over and had it towed home so I didn't want to hurt anything worse than it was. I haven't opened the hood yet to start diagnosing anything further yet but OBD II scanner gave me a 2146 error code. Where should I start?

That code is sort of generic. It has to do with the ECM, wiring or injector short. How many miles? Is there a programmer on it? If so remove it and run it. I have seen a lot of EDGE programmers fail with similar symptoms.

Saw a few valve cover gaskets cause this where they stamped the terminals. Newer gasket they improved it. I’ve also drilled a very small hole through the stamped part and soldered it when parts were not readily available…. I’d also ohm out the injectors while you’re in there. A shorted one will kill voltage to three of them as the driver circuit is separate on 1-3 and 4-6.

Thanks for the replies. I have not have time to mess with it yet. I have to go buy a new ohm meter and start from there. I found out both of mine are now junk.
