I have a 2005 3500 dually 2WD .
I put some monro shocks on the front a couple years ago and they suck thing bonces like crazy .
Rears i had to put the OE ones back on because the new ones bottomed out .
So what is a good shock for these trucks ?

I have Monroe on my '79 Power Wagon and like the ride. They aren't the best out there but they are good for the price IMO. Positive you don't have another suspension issue?

Which Monroe shocks did you use? I put the gas magnums on my 3500 4x4 and they work great.

This question gets asked a lot on the forums and most prefer Bilsteins. I put on Rancho's (2 times) they work Ok but think i will go with Bilsteins next time.

Yes Bilsteins seem to be favorite but for affordability with decent ride Monroe do seem to be satisfactory for most.

My 2004 Ram pickup bounced like crazy when it was brand new off the lot. I had less than 100 miles on it when I tossed the stock shocks in the trash and put Bilsteins up front. That cured the issue and 17 years later the shocks are still on there and still working great.

was going to ask the same question soon. My 04 gets jolted around easily and I was going to ty changing the shocks sometime.

I've run cheap Monroe's, KYB Mono-Max's, Rancho's....but NOTHING compares to the plush but instantly responsive feel of the Bilstein 5125's ( 33-185552 ) with 255/70 valving that I put on a 440 Ramcharger with D60/D70 axles and upgraded suspension. I'll never waste $$ on shocks that cost *almost* as much as Bilstein's again and just go straight for the Bilstein's.

I would love to have Bilsteins but I thought they were at least double the price of everything else but it sounds like I should look into them.

The Bilstein Shocks that I bought from 4wheelonline is so worth the money!

I have run them all and prefer the Gabriel's. I forget the model of them, (not the "Guardian" those are entry level) these were the heaviest of the Gabriel's made. Never have cared for. any of the Monroe's or KYBs
And that's on any sort of vehicles I have ever put shocks on, and I'm a front end alignment guy so I've replaced a bunch.

Gabriel Ultra that's what they are.

KYB's are usually harsh in anything.

I really liked the Edelbrock IAS shock but Edelbrock stopped selling them.
My fuzzy memory is that I read a post where someone bought the design rights from Edelbrock and continue to manufacture them, at least for awhile?

The inherent anti-roll design of the IAS shock was so effective I took the front anti-roll bar off as an experiment, and the result was so good I never put the front bar back on.
It surprised me how when one wheel hit a pothole or bump the anti roll bar sent part of the disturbance to the opposite side, and ended up jostling the whole pickup. My conclusion was that anti roll bars are a band aid to make the average driver nearly always experience understeer, because automakers consider defending understeer in crash court cases way easier than oversteer. (Porsche has certainly had legal trouble with oversteering vehicles)

Bilsteins go on all of my Mopars! Just order a set for my 1974 D100.
