Where to buy high quality 1975 Dodge Truck parts?

Where to buy high quality 1975 Dodge Truck parts? - 04/23/21 01:07 AM

Well it’s been a while since I been on this part of the forums and needing some info. Normally I can find stuff, but looks like I’m gonna need some stuff for a potential project. I might be getting a certain truck back I sold 16 years ago (and regretted ever selling it) and looks like it will need some TLC due to how it was stored used. To say it’s less than prestige is an understatement (the current steering wheel is a plank of wood). So I’m thinking when the time is right in a few years, I would start it as my next project. Thinking of new fenders, floors, rubber seals, glass, bumpers and such. Any ideas or sources?

He said "high quality" though.
Seriously, there isn't much that I know of.

I tried them, but they are back order for a few months at least, as well as AMD. Apparently, most parts come out of country so there may not be anything for awhile. Thanks for the info though.

Unfortunately a lot of sheet metal parts are on back order right now do to the pandemic and back log of ships waiting to be unloaded.

And yes, LMC s not high quality, but at least you can find a lot of the small parts that are hard to source from other vendors in one place.

think of LMC as the new Year One - nothing you can't get anywhere else for less money but all in one catalog.

I really hate to endorse farcebook but there's a lot of guys parting a lot of trucks over there.

Given the OP's address, the reality is, he may be better off locating a complete truck to get the good used parts he needs, especially if he needs a lot of stuff. He should be able to at least find good sheet metal in his area. The good used stuff will fit better then the new aftermarket stuff will, in most cases.

Once the truck is in his possession, the individual parts he needs can probably be sourced. As he has already found out, these old Dodge parts are not easy to find these days.

LMC does have some patch panels I didn’t know know that was avalible, including ramcharger. Wonder if AMD will be making parts for dodges when the time comes to expand their line comes along?

Another source of body panels is Mills Supply they have a lot of patch panels and such. Probably no better quality than anybody else. twocents

Quality parts, junkyard. Even then you're getting oe Quality which wasn't great.

There's a place in, I think PA, that does Dodge truck parts but I can't recall the name. Good reviews on their sheet metal.

Roll your own on wiring. Chassis and drive train are no big deal, just stick with reputable brands.

Edit, Mill supply is a wholesale place, their stuff comes from Tabco, Sherman and others. They do have a heck of a selection, order their catalogs, including the step van catalogs, lots of interesting bits that can be used on truck builds.

Not sure what "high quality" means anymore. But I got my floor pans from c2c, and haven't fallen through the floor.. yet.

Yesterday on FB somebody from Cali or that general area posted up a rust free tin grill cab for FREE because he bought a parts truck and took what he needed. In this part of the world a cab with less rust than the one ya got is an easy $500, apparently they can't give em away out there.

May want to go into better detail of what you need. Some stuff is reproduced but some you need to get good used or NOS.

Re: Where to buy high quality 1975 Dodge Truck parts? - 04/24/21 03:04 PM

I used LMC stuff on three builds. 78 Chevy C10 short bed, 78 F250 high boy and a 77 W150 Macho Power Wagon. LMC is just like most any other reproduction supplier in that some of what they carry is good and some is junk. There exterior trim was junk on both the Chevy and Ford. On the Ford their h/l bezels didn't fit their grill. They didn't have a sending unit for their oversize fuel tank. Bumper mounts didn't fit the frame. On the Chevy the seat cover was 1.5" to small. Cluster bezel didn't fit and some other things that I can't think of right now. On the Dodge I didn't use much of their stuff but I did use their bumpers and carpet and both fit and looked good as did their door and glass seals.
Dodge Connection is a sponsor on here and they carry some good truck parts.
On body parts such as doors, hoods and fenders I would find nice originals. I never tried any Dodge body parts but I just crushed some new reproduction Chevy and Ford doors and fenders.

Re: Where to buy high quality 1975 Dodge Truck parts? - 04/24/21 07:21 PM

I've only ordered a windshield, molded rubber flooring, and headlight adjusters from LMC. Hard to say the quality of a windshield, and the rubber flooring just so-so, and headlight adjusters were junk.

First place I go for stuff is ebay for NOS, although the prices are usually ridiculous. Fortunately mine does not need metal work, although I would like a driver's door because of all the holes drilled for many different mirrors and a few waves in the door.

I saw a pretty complete 74 Dodge D200 show up at the Pic A Part in Henderson Nv about two weeks ago. I don't know how much is left of it now.

Steve has parts for his own projects, so until he's done, he won't be selling/trading anything.

What exactly are you looking for? Sherman is one of the largest metal suppliers. Their web side has been down but you can get parts via other places. Google search: https://www.shermanparts.com
A few others...
http://autobodyspecialt.com/
https://tabcoparts.com/
You can get used sheet metal from Arizona also...

Re: Where to buy high quality 1975 Dodge Truck parts? - 05/01/21 11:50 AM

as my post states 'Thinking of new fenders, floors, rubber seals, glass, bumpers and such."

None of those companies make new fenders, rubber seals for most models, glass or quality bumpers. I wanted to buy new, not used as the cost tr remove old parts and refinishing them is very expensive. Average body shop cost out here is $125-$150 per hour. Not worth working on a $150 fender if it ads multiple hours of body shop time to the bill. Heck, I'm probably going to have to have a huge stash of cash just to find a pristine grille. Appreciate the looking, but the pickings are pretty slim.

NOS is "new old stock" but good luck finding it. Your options are just like everyone else, New(if you can find it or if it's reproduced). If that's not an option all you have is used. The second link i provided has some of what you mentioned. I think only the windshields are reproduced as far as glass goes. As for rubber you can try: https://www.steelerubber.com/
I think somebody already mentioned LMC truck, They DO have fenders! https://www.lmctruck.com/1972-93-dodge/body-panels/dc-1972-80-front-steel-body-parts

Re: Where to buy high quality 1975 Dodge Truck parts? - 05/01/21 03:10 PM

Several companies make rubber seals. For the rest of what you're looking for you're not going to find a place that sells fenders and stuff that need zero work unless you're not picky. In reality there's only one or two manufacturers of the stuff you're looking for and what you see online is the distributors that sell it so all you can really do is shop for the right price or keep watching ebay etc. and pay up for NOS stuff. And even that is a gamble now because what's left has been kicking around for the last 30+ years or some of it is stuff that has defects or damage and wasn't good enough for dealers to sell when it was new.

I hear ya. Have built or seen many built. What are ya starting with?

Metal: what there is is mostly left over crash parts and rust repair parts from larger stampings way back. Hence while selection shrinking. Shop on price, it's pretty much all the same repop batch. CrossCountryCanada used to have a great list of stuff ya can't find. Real deal factory stuff is out there and if ya work it, ya can find it for reasonable money. It's a Dodge truck, learn basic metal fab.

Seals, Glass: about the only thing in seals is side doors, usual vendors, fit nice. Detroit Muscle Technologies for a lot of interior seals. Front glass and seals can be bought new, glass swaps 72-94. Body mounts too.

Bumpers, Trim: Vans - site needs work, products rock, $$. Bumpers from the usual suspects, shop on price.

Interior: 72-94 Will fit 99% bolt in because Dodge. Lots of opportunity to mix / match bodies / dashes / seats / door panels. '93 bucket seats, '85 dash, '72 cab, whatever.

Wiring: Used harnesses are around, usual hot-rod wiring kit will work with FSM. I like grabbing bits of wasted one's cheap for the connectors to fix otherwise good harnesses. Other good score is optional harness because Dodge. for example: every 75-79 truck built came with same basic wire harness to make the thing run and drive. They all had a number of unused connectors. Everything that was optional came with it's own smaller harness that plugs in. Tach, tran temp warn, quad h/l, cargo lamp, etc, etc.

Me too but his search is mostly for sheet metal and that doesn't come around often and when it does forget about it! It's priced out of this world and unless it's next door the shipping is ridiculous. A lot of the other stuff if you wait you can find for reasonable price (except a cargo light LOL).
