Radio Question 2008

Radio Question 2008 - 12/11/20 05:45 PM

The CD player stopped working in my 2008 Raider. (It's a Dakota). Ebay has the usual deals.

Two Questions.
#1. Some ads say """“This radio WILL need to be reprogrammed/ or a code from your local dealership""". I called the dealer, ($80), and the service manager was very helpful.

#2. Some ads say ""equipped with a low-speed CAN-BUS system for this radio to work". so how do I know if my truck is High or Low speed Can-Bus?

Anybody replace a radio....without programming it? The radio on eBay has the exact same part #. 05064410AF

Thanks

John

Check on ebay for a Dodge radio unlock code service. Much cheaper then the dealer

If your CD player is still spinning discs but not playing music, you can take it apart and use alcohol on a Qtip to clean the eye.

You could try a cd cleaner disc.

Try poking around some sites that are dedicated to the late model stuff. A lot Jeep / Ram sites have a whole section dedicated to hacking the CAN and assorted controllers. Mostly about correcting speedos and other tweaks to the drive line. The car sites are usually bigger on the radio info - adding back up cams, extra screens and head unit swaps. There are a couple software apps that have been floating around for years that will reprogram the radio vin.

Okay thank you for the advice guys I appreciate it.

I bought a used $80 one off eBay. Had the same part number and looked exactly the same.
It was plug and play without any effort.

Thanks again and it works fine..
