360 Magnum into 87 Ramcharger - 09/23/20 05:05 PM

Neighbor kid stopped over, he bought a Magnum 360 to put in his Ramcharger.

I know the Intake and distributor need changed,

I saw a thread on here about this swap once, but can't find it.

What else is he going to need to do,

He is planning on using the ramcharger Transmission..

Thank you

Water pump if going back to v belts. Fuel pump or swap front cover.

You can't just change the water pump, you have to change the front cover as well because not only is the bolt pattern different, the depth of the cover is different as well. You can get a snout extension kit from Hughes to put a fuel pump eccentric on the short snout magnum cam. Now if any of your LA drive accessories bolt to the cylinder heads you will need to address that as well because the bolt bosses are not the same. It's best to just add an electric fuel pump and leave all the magnum accessories in place.

Guitar Jones pretty much covered it! If he wants to use the Ramcharger transmission, he will need to use the flex plate that is on the 5.9 Magnum. If the Ramcharger currently has a 360, he will have to knock the weights off the converter, or swap it out to a neutral balance converter. He will need to oblong one hole on the 5.9 flex plate to make the 727 converter bolt up.

Or, He could just skip all this nonsense swapping parts and feeding a money pit and just get the RH/RE overdrive that belongs to it (+5 mpg) and grab the computer that belongs to it.

Turn the key, go, and enjoy the win/win. twocents
