got the 86 back from my son

got the 86 back from my son - 09/27/19 02:49 AM

Son says he done with it. We've been back and forth a few times with this truck. He even sold it to a friend of mine that just about destroyed it last year. Friend tried to rat rod it. Made me sick. I have since got it mostly back original, except for valve covers and plug wires. At one point it had up swept headers on it . Thanks god he didn't cut the original hood. My son is moving on to better things. I'm torn between a Cummins and a 440. Even thinking about a short bed dually with the 440.

It is. I spent many hours getting all the junk out of the engine bay and interior and getting it put back together. Thanks god my buddy didn't do anything to it that couldn't be changed back.

Shoot your son and your buddy. I've been looking at trucks lately and have determined that those square bodys are the last good trucks made. I've owned a few, been looking at 01 and newer, all the way to a2018 no freakin way.
I'm now scouring Craigslist in southern states to find a clean D 150 or 250. Should have never sold my 83.

My son wasn't the problem, he actually takes really good care of it when he had it. My buddy is a different story, It took me days of changing out rat rod parts for the original stuff. Every time I seen it I regretted selling it too him so much. Now it's back in good hands. If I can I'm going to do a frame off on it and fix it the way it should be. Either cummins or a 440 with a/c. My son will end up with it when I move on and he'll keep it just the way I have it.

Yeah I'm a member of that one a whole lot more of them on facebook and I'm a big hoarder of Dodge truck parts. I've got a 440 truck engine that's ready to go together. Machine work is done. Small cam , would like to do a 10 to 1 piston. Then again I could put that together, sell it and buy a 5.9 cummins for it.

I have my eye on a couple in the South, via CL. gotta figure out how to get one of them back to Illinois though. depends on which one I am able to get as to whether I can go after it or try to have it brought back for me

I haul stuff. If you need something just pm me for a quote. The deals are on Marketplace, people are getting away from Craigslist because they now charge you 5.00 to list vehicles. Can't find much on craigslist, just go to marketplace and there are tons of Dodge trucks on there. I've been hitting IAA and Copart and doing well buying stuff from there also but marketplace is the best by far.

Interesting. I see a few but best bang for buck one at the moment is in TX between Houston and Austin (as I remember) 85 3/4 ton 2wd another one in Atlanta area (85 or 86 1/2 ton)
If I could at least get something like this brought back "closer" if I find one I can make a deal on it would help.... "closer" might be as good as northern KY or southern IL.... to keep hauling costs down, even though I'm north, closer to Chicago (but still a couple counties away from that rat race) my wife has family in way, southern IL.

My son turned me onto an 88 3/4 ton 4wd not far from here "old man's truck" that sounds promising.....

We are traveling to Texas soon, can't seem to make a date but it will be soon. I could bring something back if I don't buy something down that way. I live 10 miles south of Cincinnati so that could be doable for you.

about 15 years ago I bought a 77 Volare parts car from within 20 miles south of Cincy. I remember it was just off of junction of 71 and some other major highway.
