Garage Squad Little Red Express - 09/13/19 12:26 AM

I was wondering where they got the original looking wheels ??
Those wheels are hard to repop , because of where they are welded
together on the backside , the welds are very hard to get to.

I had a link to a company that was claiming to make them but the page said out of stock for a couple years so I deleted it. Looked like a mom and pop operation and probably gave up after having a few sets made and then had trouble selling them. I need to go back and re-watch the episode because they didn't look like that great of a match. Hard to tell from the really quick shots they showed but something just didn't look right.

As for the episode itself: you had to tell the story about him selling it to somebody than buying it back some years later like 10 times? Did I really hear bruno say that replacing the glove box door would be tough because of how few LREs were originally produced?? Paint the gauge surround while it's in the truck - like it's hard to get out? Worried about banging up the grille while installing the motor but not worried enough to just take the grill off? Spend the coin they spent but didn't pony up a few more bucks for a sure-grip? I thought joe was the token mopar nut, how was he completely indifferent about doing a Lil Red? Because they didn't let him fuel inject it? The wiring guru didn't know he should have checked the bulkhead disconnect so that means he didn't check the alternator gauge either and they obviously couldn't have seen the burn marks because they didn't yank it to paint the dash cap. At least they didn't let bimby stain the wood dark.

Nice truck, good save but wow, the formula for the show is really getting old.

I have three of the 15x7 wheels, and four of the 15x8 wheels. I would have been in good shape for my 78 LRT, but I just picked up a 79 LRT, and it needs four 15x8 wheels. I will have to find two more 15x8 wheels. I understand that the 15x8 wheels are easier to find because they used them on other Dodge trucks besides the LRT trucks, where as the 15x7 wheels were LRT only pieces.

Guys the wheels in the show were made by John Phillips Phone: 414-755-9888 pavement1@mindspring.com. The sample we received looked really good but I have heard of some serious issues on delivery time frames. But better than nothing.

ALSO - Boggart Racing wheels is making some that are AMAZING but they are billet and pretty pricey - https://www.facebook.com/BogartRacingWheels/photos/a.786359504723317/3270834219609154/?type=3

StreetVans came with 15x7s. I've also seen 15x7s on boneyard RCs but who knows how they got there. I'm pretty sure they were both optional from the factory on whatever truck ya ordered. Oddly enough I recently picked up a pair of 15x8s.

Wonder how much they paid for the glove box lid laugh

I enjoyed the episode, although I wish it had it's original 360, it was still good.

The slotted steel wheels were an option across the1/4-1/2 ton truck line during the '78-'79 and beyond production yrs not just LRE's.

I have one original off a '79. Still has the GT Radial on it. Wheel is not in great shape (peeled with some rusting), but would like to get rid of it.
