LA 360/727 into '94 Dakota... - 09/04/19 05:16 PM

Found a nice little truck with a bad 3.9 for cheap. Just happen to have a low mileage '77 360/727 combo on hand.
Any mounts available for this swap? IIRC, LA engines won't accept Magnum mounts and most folks are swapping Magnums into older vehicles, not vice-versa. wink
Just spitballin' here... boogie

Schumacher HAD what you need. They WERE Pricey, though (maybe why they were discontinued!).

I've done the swap a few times. I use truck brackets and mounts and fab a box on each side of the frame and I always move the engine and trans. back to the firewall. They actually handle much better when you move the engine back. If I remember right it's 2 1/2 inches back. I use 3/16 plate to make the boxes for the mounts. I put slots in them just like the trucks. It;s a very easy job if you can weld.

I've got one of Schumachers BB Dakota swap kits. Does anyone have an old catalog that lists what these were selling for before they were discontinued? I bought this one in 04 and don't remember what I paid.

My memory says about $800-900 for mounts, oil pan w/ pickup, and shorty tri-y headers.

The headers are still listed and are $1100 for the ceramic coated ones. Schumacher sold me a pair of exhaust manifolds that fit. I don't think the headers were available yet when I purchased the kit. When the headers first came out I think they were in the $600 range.

The kit was engine brackets, engine mounts, oil pan and pickup. I'm not sure if the trans bracket and mount were included or if it needed to be purchased separately.
