Looking for a well used 2500 diesel again, but it seems the 1/2 tons can tow a good size trailer now....

Been towing with this tractor since early 03. Was going to “upgrade” a few times over the years, but there was nothing exciting enough to justify a payment. I’d never consider towing my 28 with a 1/2 ton. Fully loaded for a 3 day race your looking at 17,800lb combined.

I’m going to grab a 6.4 Hemi 2500 off the lot someday and tow my trailer. A lot of people seem to really like the package.

There is a 2001 3500 standard cab dually 6 speed flatbed for sale locally for under $25,000.00 with less than 90,000 miles on it work
I tow my 24 Ft. Pace enclosed that weighs right at 8500 Lbs. on the two axles with a 2006 Ram 3500 4X4 single wheel automatic four door long bed and love it, the 4X4 is for the icy winters here whiney grin

2015 Ram 2500 4x4 5.7 Hemi tows 11,500 lbs and does fine with my 24' V-Nose (26' total box length) enclosed, is just adequate with my 32' LQ trailer that weighs in at around 11K lbs loaded. 160K miles on it now with probably 50% miles towing and only issues I have had are with the carrier bearing in the rear cover under warranty, twocents

I’ve been pulling my trailers since 2004 with a Cummins Diesel 2500. Love the way it pulls! Automatics 4x4’s. Here is my 2012 Ram. Got it a little over a year ago with 58K miles. I’m already up to 94K!

I pull my 2008 24’ enclosed with my 2007 5.9. 283k on it, run on the TOW setting on the Edge. Doesn’t miss a beat

Any diesel Mopar 3/4 and up will do the trick.
I had 4 of them and all but the last one was great.
Got 316,000 out of the last one and them kicked a rod out.

I have a 2006 GMC 2500 4x4 Duramax. Effortlessly pulls my 24' Haulmark enclosed w/ the cuda in it. It is basically all stock, no programmer.
Previously had a 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins. Loved it, but lacked the power of the newer trucks and I needed a crew cab to fit the family. The dodge diesels that actually have room in the back seat are/were out of my price range.

The new higher powered gas trucks may be better, but the gas trucks I've used in the past made me switch to diesel. Love that torque.

Pulled up a 16 just to “keep it real”.... I can’t swing new, ever! laugh2. This is what I saw that would make me “consider” a 6.4. Reality is that I’ll probably keep using my 01 until I flush my racing hobby. I’ll agree with Chip that my 01 in stock form was a bit of a letdown. Also made me realize why so many had tuners on them when they came in the shop. I’ve had a edge ez, rv injectors, and a trans I built with goerend parts since 38k back in 04. Got a buck 80k on it now. Last year a decent 11 came in on trade. I was star struck and brought it home and hooked the trailer to it and proceeded directly to the gawd awful grades heading out of this hole I live in. I’m not sure if I was more disappointed by the 6 speeds and 3.7 gear, or impressed with the minor tunes and my 3.5 gear in my 01. My junk just plain out towed it. Looking back I’m glad I skipped on it. The 14 newer is a much better pickup.

I use 98 Dodge 2500 v10. Love the truck. I've owned it for 7 yrs. Has 110k. Upgrading this yr because we need at least one vehicle that can seat more than 3 people and my wife refuses to sell her mustang.

I put a little 50-60 hp (or so) programmer (Edge Flashpaq) on my '01 Cummins and it made a BIG difference, but it was still lacking in the trans department, mainly the converter. It pulled real good, but you couldn't tell it had any power until the converter locked. I'm sure I'd have been happy w/ it if I'd put a good converter in it, but I needed a crew cab. Got a heck of an offer for the dodge, so I sold it and spent 6 months looking for the "right" truck. I brought home an LBZ Duramax and couldn't be happier w/ it. It is more challenging to work on than a Cummins though, lol.

I kept that '01 Dodge for 7 years and put about 75k on it...sold it for $1,000 less than I paid for it. If it had been a crew cab, I'd still own it.

08 H.Q.C. tows my 20 ft Haulmark great with either my Dart or D150 inside, added a cold air intake and cat back and woke it up even more and picked up 1 1/2 mpg towing, bought new the end of 08 , just turned 54,000 miles

The dash is an LMC. $330 to my door. I’ve installed 3 of them at work. Nice piece!

It sure isn't as powerful towing as my 02 Cummins was, but with the new 383 I think it'll be much more hp & torque
and tow a lot easier. Not like my Cummins did, but it'll do.
