Can we talk big block truck headers again?

Can we talk big block truck headers again? - 04/28/19 01:39 AM

Anyone come across anything lately that fits the 4wd chassis that are 1 7/8 or 2" primary? I don't know if I am that crazy about fenderwell headers, I was looking at the fenderwell headers on a jeep at the 4wd store and the headers were pretty beat with crap flying off the tires. I want to run some larger heads on a stroker, choking it with 1 3/4's doesn't seem like a good plan.

Did you check with Mad Dog Headers. They made them for 4x4 trucks.

Yeah I looked at those, and also the reason I started looking at trucks with fenderwell headers to see how they survive. I supposed a stainless shield could be welded to the tubes in the well area to stop the crap from hitting the tubes, but not sure how it would look. I would prefer something that sat inside the frame rails.

What heads are you going to use that you need 2" primaries? What is the intended use of the truck?

Most likely the trick flow 270's on a 512 or 535. Truck will be a little of everything, some street, some mud slinging.

Well, sounds like a custom headers to me to get everything you want. Maybe a set of A-body race headers and a weld-up kit to get them to fit how you want. shruggy

Yeah, I was thinking about that. If I recall correctly in the other thread, someone said the passenger side hits the drive shaft. But if the truck were lifted sufficiently , it may not be an issue.

They really aren’t that hard to make if you have a welder. Here are some that I made. They would be just as easy to route them inside the frame rails.

Those look pretty good, did you start with a weld up kit and if so from where?

Yes, I used two weld up kits from Summit Racing and I made the flanges myself.
