85 ramcharger wiring

85 ramcharger wiring - 04/14/19 05:37 PM

I need the connector pinout for the plug just below the steering column near bottom of brake booster that feeds the fuel sender, back up lights, running lights and neutral switch for a 1985 Ramcharger. I need the color charts, circuit call outs, and pin locations within the goes-down-the-frame side of the connector. can anyone help me? Who here has a factory service manual for 85 RC? I'm not working on an 85, but for what I am doing, I am using that portion of the wiring harness from an 85.

Try this. https://www.bing.com/search?q=1985+...mp;cvid=02047ecfcdab475686a244e4565f9d13

saw some of the wiring there, but didn't see the portion that I need..... I hate Google and Bing search. they give you a taste of what you want without getting you what you are really wanting then give "similar" results about vehicles that have NOTHING to do with what is requested.
My work is "cut off" from "Mitchell On Demand" right now or I could look it up at work.....

Is an '84 too different? I still have my Haynes Manual from when I owned my '76 Club Cab. The cover says the manual covers up to '86 model year, but the diagrams only go to '84.

For '84, they show factory diagrams for trucks with conventional electronic ignition or with the factory lean burn computer.

I have the 85 harness that goes down the frame to the tail/brake/fuel/NSS in the shed. would looking at it help you? also have the 86 chassis harness but is cut at the axle.. 3 or 4 different wire harness in the shed.

I know the plugs changed in 86 to the weather proof style. I had a hell of a time finding the 86 up chassis harness. and the plug on the 85 colum had me looking for a 86 colum did I mention the 86 up turn sig plugs are a PITA to find...

I will look in my notes as I do have a pin out chart for the steering colum plug IIRC.

this truck will be a conglomeration of parts from several different years of trucks. the underhood harness came off of an 87, the 87 was cut on the "down the body" side of the plug, I have popped the terminals out of that 87 tail, the hope is that I can do the same with the 85 plug, and pop the terminals into the bare plug from the 87, and plug it straight into the engine side of the 87 harness. trying as hard as we can to NOT to make it look jury rigged.
We put another engine into this RC, and this one is carbureted. the body is an 89. whatever it took to get rid of that nasty nightmare TBI that it came, with and make it look like it came carbureted.

The 87 engine harness that we started with, came to us as a Lean burn harness. we compared the lean burn wiring diagram, to the 87 "Canada and HD" wiring diagram, as I have an 87 FSM here, and untaped and stripped all of the un necessary LB wiring and added the plug for a factory 4 or 5 pin ECU. We only got the engine compartment harness from 87.
If I had an 85 harness it would solve a lot.

but we wound up with a complete 85 RC harness too, and wound up taking the "down the frame" section and using that to replace the original 89 harness, and we used the 85 gas tank. so I need to match wire colors on the 85 down the frame wiring with the 87 engine harness plug. these trucks aren't getting any newer, gotta use what comes available to us, to make the truck what we want.

What I need is the pinouts/ wire colors for the plug outside the firewall just underneath the steering column that leads to the back of the truck. Branches to the neutral switch, the fuel sender and tail lights.
