Your '79 are beautiful trucks. I have three '79s as well. Only one of mine is 'nice', one is in redo mode, and the other is waiting to start the redo mode. Your trucks give me inspiration to get them done.
Nice work!

I had a 79 once, it didn't look anywhere near as nice as any of your 3. It was a good truck though. Gene

Ok, I'll play.

79 LRE: Picked in up in 1994. Had been used hard by several previous owners.

79 RC: Bought from original owner in 2006 in solid condition. Low options.

77 W150: Bought as running basket case in 2010. At least some of it is a 79.

Nice trucks, nice variety. up up up
LRE does not show having been used hard
Ramcharger Prospector...of the few "decal package" trucks surviving not many still wearing original decals
I like that Macho look on the '77

Very nice!

I really need to get my Warlock in shape, I just have nowhere to work on it and keep the 'Cuda inside. It's just a beatup ol' truck. whiney

I'd like a 2wd big block pop top to round out the collection. Well that and maybe a Warlock and a shorty StreetVan and a Club Cab dually and of course a really big garage. As far as I can tell, the Prospector package in the 70s got you the decal and the side spear. The RC started life with pie plates, low backs, no console, am radio, rubber mats and 3/tree.

The LRE still had the factory air cleaner setup but had been changed to a single plane aluminum and holley with an electric choke. A couple years after I bought it, I was rummaging around the engine and found a bunch of cracked valves and broken rings. Ended up having to replace the block. The trans had a wasted planetary and the rear had been swapped badly with one from a passenger car.

Some "as bought" pics:

Bought the Macho tailgate decal thru the parts dept. and installed sometime within the first year of ownership. The rear bumper was originally silver/greyish. Painted it black to match decal.

I figured as much...I know there was not to much cross breeding between the various packages such as macho, roundup, palamino, denim, etc but I would not say it was impossible smile What all came in the roundup package exactly ? Also did you special order that package or was it on the lot and then you bought it ?

I did not order it. I had unexpectedly sold our previous family utility vehicle (a nice Bronco) and so I went to the Dodge dealership in our area that carried the most inventory and picked out what best fit my wants and needs and that one was it. Found out many years later when a collector explained the build sheet to me (I found 3) that the dealership had actually ordered two identical Trucks. Never have been able to find the other one nor documentation of it. As for the Roundup pkg., I have seen it on both narrow and wide beds and Ramchargers. From what I have been told they always have the decal and white spoke wheels. In this state at that time trucks were not required to have the typical factory window sticker, thus I have documentation of the Roundup pkg. but no breakdown of what it entails. Back at the time, there was more emphasis on how the H are we going to finish paying for this thing than what have I actually got here, if you know what I mean. grin

Last couple times I saw the roundup "package" discussed, the general opinion was that it was strictly a marketing thing and not actually an option package. Ya got the decal and some sort of special discount pricing and that was it. General idea being some kinda [end of model year] gimmick to get foot traffic in the dealership and current model year stuff off the lot.

It's Round Up time at your local white hat Dodge dealership!
