Fender-to-front panel gasket??? - 11/24/18 07:22 PM
On my old '54 C1B pickup, is there anything that goes between the front headlamp /grille panel and the front mounting flange of the fenders?? The parts book shows some sort of "anti-squeak"
material, but nothing available anymore. Should I just use a narrow bead of butyl?? Or what have others been using....?

The first time I assembled my 54 Dodge pickup, I used a calk rope flattened out. That didn't last a year. The next time, I just bolted the stuff together, and that was the way it was when it left me 7 years later. I really didn't hear many squeaks, but the truck had a rumble that probably muffled me from hearing any squeaks.
Butyl might work OK, at least it won't squish out very fast. Gene

Probably used welting material originally. You might be able to find it in bulk from one of the weather strip suppliers
Old bicycle inner tube could be trimmed to fit

I used plumbers caulking tape on my 57. Worked great.

some of those old trucks had that welting material with a round bead that would show between the fender and body-----buy some turn the bead in or trim it off.....
